Youth / Reserve Team Thread... 2010 - 2013

Youth Cup vs Leeds tonight. Team:

Fulton, Baio, Maguire, Jones, Brewitt, Rossiter, Lussey, Dunn, Trickett-Smith, Ibe, Sinclair

Ojo among others on the bench. Should be good.

Do you not think this obsession of yours with McLaughlin is getting a bit out of hand?

It's not even as if he's the best young player on the books. Just in this team tonight, Sinclair, Ibe, Rossiter, Dunn, Trickett-Smith, Ojo are all similar or better calibre talents.

Is it a coincidence that everyone you mentioned are either midfielders or strikers?

Anyway, is Sterling still eligible to play in the youth cup, I mean he's still only 18 years old?

Ibe is the shizness. I can totally see the McLaughlin thing too, at times it seems like he could step into the first team and never look back.

No, it's not a coincidence. I deliberately chose them because IMO centre halves are notoriously difficult to judge in terms of progress to the first team, but if pushed I'd say that on the evidence so far Jones and Brewitt could also be added to that list.

Sterling is definitely still eligible: he's younger than a few of those players in the line up.

OK so how many of those you mentioned got to travel with the team to America and start against Roma?

Yeah I'm drumming.

Only Dunn of that list is even 18 yet.

Rossiter, Brewitt, and Ojo are 15, Sinclair 16.

Ibe started against Toronto, aged 16, though.

Oh yeah, and McLaughlin was called up to NI senior squad which isn't the most amazing achievement but still.
To address the infatuation remark, I've singled out three players from our reserves these past few years and they are Suso, McLaughlin and Sterling and I'm equally infatuated with all of them.

1-0. Lovely interception by Trickett-Smith a couple of yards outside the area, passes forward to Ibe, who scores with a good low shot.
