Youth / Reserve Team Thread... 2010 - 2013

I think if we saw the mancs' youngsters performing like ours this season it would send a chill down the spine, because we'd fear there was a new generation of real players emerging. You tend to doubt it more when it's your own team. Obviously, you can't ever tell which ones will come through and become first team regulars, but this is a very, very promising bunch of players.

Yes, I know what you mean. For a while now I've been saying this is an exceptional group, but you never quite believe it until players start making the first team. Now we've got Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Robinson, and Shelvey all contributing well, and plenty of others of similar potential waiting in the wings, it does start to get pretty exciting.

Everything seems to have come together at the right time. First, after a long period of famine, we've finally got some good local talent coming through (Robinson, Flanagan, Morgan, Dunn, Lussey, Coady etc), secondly that largely coincided with the improvement in coaching etc after Segura and Borrell came in, and thirdly the policy of signing the best available from elsewhere started under Rafa and continued under Comolli/Dalglish has really worked well (Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Ibe, Teixeira, Pelosi, Ojo, Sinclair).

The combination means a pretty amazing array of talent. The only downside is that it might be so successful that it lets FSG off the hook of their mismangement and lack of spending on the first team.

The u18s beat Wolves 4-2 today, here's a compilation of Seyi Ojo's performance. Looks a great talent for a 15 year old.

After about 55 seconds of that video I was thinking that he looked completely left footed and then he whipped in that beauty on his right.
He looks a hell of a prospect.
Any idea of his natural/favoured position?
Out and out left winger I presume.

I actually saw him on Twitter a couple of weeks ago complaining about people classing him as a winger - apparently he sees himself more as an all round attacking midfielder. But when you're an attacking player with pace and trickery you might as well get used to being called a winger, because that's more than likely where you'll end up playing. He's similar to Ibe in that respect - he's not a classic winger either, but it's almost certainly where he'll play.

Apparently we tried to take Ngoo to Russia with us but couldn't get his paperwork sorted in time. It's a shame but a great boost for him that he's finally being considered for the first team.

GOOD for him! He'll get a chance against Udinese and/or Young Boys hopefully.

The last goal was the best. Class finish by Ngoo.

I've always written him off but nice to see him improving.

As his tribute to the 96 a few weeks ago showed, he's also got a great attitude and he deserves every encouragement.

Really like him, he's as hard as nails, can play right back as well as centre back and always works very hard at his game.

Sama? The odd time last season. I'm not sure but I think he played on the right against Spurs in pre-season this year. He's obviously a CB though.

Ya def a cb a good one at that he has really improved since he moved here if he keeps going he could make a very good defender.
