Dinamo Moscow claim Liverpool board battling Benitez over Benayoun sale

Dinamo Moscow have today claimed that the Liverpool board is prepared to sell midfielder Yossi Benayoun but is facing fierce opposition from Anfield manager Rafa Benitez.

Dinamo Moscow's Sporting Director Konstantin Sarsania claims that the club have already spoken to Benayoun's representatives and agreed terms with them. Furthermore, he claims that the Anfield board are prepared to sell Benayoun, arguably one of Liverpool's best players this season.

Dinamo are believed to be offering Liverpool around £7million for the Israeli's signature. Now 29 years-old, Benayoun signed a new deal at Liverpool last summer.

Sarsania said, "It is true that we have come to an agreement with the player's agent. In the next two days Liverpool will make their own decision.

"When we completed the signing of Andriy Voronin, consent was given by Benitez. Now the Liverpool coach is against losing Benayoun but the decision is not his. It is for the club directors.

"The transfer of Benayoun will happen if the price is acceptable. If they want more than we expect, the board of directors will discuss the issue."

Benayoun has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 26 appearances for Liverpool this season

This is getting seriously stupid, should have got rid of Babel if we are desperate for the money.

No 'club sources' say bollocks here. Direct quotes from Dinamo's sports director.

What a mess we are in 🙁

If this goes ahead over Rafa's wishes there will be trouble at mill

And the position of Juve manager might look very attractive.

I really dont understand its the directors decsion, if the club accepted the offer and Yossi refused surely he can't be sold. All Benitez would need to do is say to Yossi I want you here don't accept the contract offer. Surely the owners can do jack if that happend.

According to the Daily Mail, Benayoun has agreed terms on a three year deal believed to be in the region of £75,000 a week and given the tax rate in Russia, that is a significant improvement on his current Liverpool contract.

this might have something to do with it, If it's true of course

Why the fuck do you wana play in Russia Yossi you idiot.

I don't get it either to be honest. Unless he's planning this to be his last contract and wants to set himself up for life, then I don't get this at all - average league, shitty weather, no chance of winning anything in europe and leaving a club where's he's finally become an integral part of the 1st team squad.

He should already be set up for life, but I get the last big paycheque before playing out his final years as a professional in some shitty club. Bloody hell it's really really bad news not just the fact a very good players is wanting to leave but also the manager not wanting him to go and the directors allowing him to do so, and the fall out and implications of all that.

Fond of the odd Nazi salute or 10,000.

He should have been allowed the RW spot all to himself this season.

He's out third best attacking player and we should do our damnedest to keep him a red.

I'd have preferred him central behind the front man with Gerrard alongside Masher in CM, but I'd certainly prefer him on the right rather than on the left. Could there be some truth in the rumour that he's naffed off with being stuck in a position that doesn't suit him?

It's on the official site that he won't be sold. I think that puts an end to it.

Liverpool have today dismissed reports that midfielder Yossi Benayoun could be set for a transfer window move to Dynamo Moscow.

Moscow Sporting Director Konstantin Sarsania has reportedly claimed agreement has been reached for the Israeli international to leave Anfield, but the Reds have insisted the 29-year-old is going nowhere.

"The player is not for sale, it's as simple as that," said a club spokesman.

I wonder if Yossi will find himself punished for agreeing a wage deal with another club

Precisely right, Judge. The fact it hasn't even been tried is beyond belief.

It keeps me awake at night wondering why this just doesn't happen.

If we were winning matches and looking good then *shrugs* ok; even if it looked good you could understand us not doing it. But it's not like our midfield is pulling up trees or anything while Yossi has one of the best records of any player in the squad for goals and assists.

Why Rafa doesn't even look at changing the set up a little is beyond me. There's plenty of us on here have been saying it for nearly a year so there's no chance Rafa hasn't thought of it. Why he doesn't just try it once and see how it goes is completely beyond me; sure, it may put "at risk" the point we earned against Wolves but, alternatively, it could just as easily bring in three points.

His refusal to try anything like that seems so stubborn; almost a decision to stick with something that isn't working rather than try something else and thereby admit his first inclination wasn't correct.

Its crazy. He played in the hole twice. Scoring a hat trick and creating the first against Utd in a crucial game.

I don't blame him for wanting to fUck off.

Plus how the hell can people call for Aquaman in the hole ahead of Yossi its nuts!

Explain how "we're becoming a selling club" please.

the next boring twist ... Dynamo are now saying Yossi wants to leave but Club is refusing. Supposedly a meeting today ...

I think there's a few pothibilities here

1) Something has happened where Yossi feels slighted, so he wants out
2) A huge payoff
3) We need the money (doubtful but who knows)
4) It's just tabloid junk, but there's no smoke without fire.

There's frequently smoke without a source in the football world.

Other clubs see it as a pothibility they can lure our best players.
And I mean other clubs that have no history or a tradition of winning big trophies.
These are clubs that have just money to show.
As we keep failing trophies and now being out of every competition before christmas, our tradition is no longer sufficient enough to keep players let alone attract top players.
Our players are tempted
Its time for a change.

Who have we sold that wasn't without our blessing

Owen
Xabi

Who else?

I wonder if it is that doubtful, Wizzy. It seems a fair bet that the banks played hardball with H and G in the summer and that that's what cut our transfer budget off at the knees. If so, they could well still be keeping the pressure on.
