Yossi to leave?

I never hated Cas, never really hated Morrison either. I just found it embarassing we went lengths to get them to play for us.

YOSSI BENAYOUN is set to quit Liverpool after becoming disillusioned with life at Anfield.

The Israeli international had a £7million move to Dynamo Moscow blocked in midweek. But he will seek a summer transfer unless there are changes at the club before the end of the season. Benayoun signed a new contract extension in July, tying him to the Reds until 2013. But his relationship with manager Rafa Benitez has become increasingly strained after he was left out of several high-profile fixtures. The midfielder, 29, is currently recovering from a broken rib.

He was given permission to find a new club last season when Dynamo first declared an interest. But after an agreement was reached, Liverpool changed their mind and said the midfielder was no longer for sale. That coincided with Benayoun showing sparkling form as the Reds challenged for the title.

Dynamo's renewed bid is a sign Benayoun is still open to offers, although the Anfield outfit insist he is not up for grabs.

I heard this yesterday from another source that knows Yossi.
The story is, if you accept it or not, that Yossi and most of the dressing room, including those you might think are in Rafa's corner, are fed up with his over cautious defensive tactics and being square pegs in round holes.
Purslow has asked Yossi to wait until the summer when he implied that there would be changes by then

regards

As if Benayoun is important enough for Purlsow to make comments like that to him

If he was ever going to have that chat it would be to the likes of Carran Gerrard, Reina and Torres

He's been our best player in 2009 and one of our most important, behind only the players you mention above... Him having that conversation is absolutely possible, especially if, as Vlad's mole suggests, the feeling is rife in the camp.

What feeling? Anti-Rafa chat?

Fuck me, there is only *one* reason why Casper is lucky enough to play for Liverpool, and that is Rafa Benitez

He's been fortunate to wear our shirt, and will never play for a bigger or better club, and he has played a lot in the last 12 months - and done very well at times - so what's his problem?

I find it all rather bemusing, and out of character for someone like Casper, who has always seemed a pretty decent, level-headed and humble sort

(Cf Crouch. Oh well)

Everybody is fortunate to wear our shirt and there are only a handful of bigger, better clubs on the planet, so that can be applied to 99% of those who have ever played for us.

When I think of shouldn't be here, I think of Lucas, Dossena, Babel... Not Yossi. He's been a valuable member of this side since he joined it. Every squad's had players who shouldn't have been there - Dicks and Stewart and McDonald and Carter and Kennedy, etc... But Yossi's performances for us, particularly over the past 12 months, do not warrant his being mentioned in the same breath as some of these gobshites.

And so I do find it possible, even reasonable, that Yossi's made it clear, without causing waves, that he wants to leave 'cos he's fed up with Benitez's shite. And upon hearing this, it's alos reasonable that CP could have come and had a quiet chat with one of the squad's better players, telling him to sit tight for a little while, PARTICULARLY if he's already had the same conversation seperately and independantly with the leaders of the team.

Barca have been rumored to be after him in the past 12 months ... I guess they know shit about footy players though and are a rather smallish club, so carry on.

Yeah, he'd fit right into Barca's team, I should imagine Messi or Henry might be benched in order to make way for the Greatest Footballing Jew The World Has Ever Seen

I don't think Henry will last that much longer at Barca. They will probably look to bring in someone like Silva this summer and maybe consider Iniesta as an option should Fabregas be tempted to move.

As for Yossi, it's absurd to suggest he's lucky to be at the club at this stage of his career. I thought that was the case when we signed him - another pointless squad player - but he's proven his worth enough times now to give him his due respect.

Do agree that the stories about him wanting to leave and Purslow providing guarantees are more than a little bizarre and unseemly.

Typical Brendan response ... surely he'd have been signed to replace Messi ...

I do think, on a more serious note (if that's possible with you and this subject), that he's not on the level Revivo was ... but I'm sure you meant Israelis as you must remember, Juan Pablo Sorin wasn't that bad

Was Casper signing for Liverpool one of your best ever moments as a Liverpool fan?
[/quote]

Brendan,

You've always resort to asking me this question. And I'll repeat the same answer, give or take a few words: I was happy an Israeli signed for Liverpool but I thought he was bench material only (at least when he's not on form). I don't care where the player is from, he can be from Iran or Botswana, if he's good enough for the team and he a) performs and b) cares about the badge, I'm happy. This is Liverpool, it should transcend religion/politics ...

Happiest moment = 25.05.2005 ... I never had the privilege of really enjoying the team in the 1980s ...

Best,
Le Tall

Just confirming that the birthplace of one of our players colours your interest in the team.

Given that probably 20 % of your Football posts concern Casper or - bizarrely - Dirk Kuyt, and about 90% of your General Chat posts are about Arabs, Obama, Israel or Muslims

Cheers.

Agreed. Unless he's heard it from so many that he feels he must... Maybe. Who knows?

There's also the money side of things, i.e.trying to minimise the transfer kitty they'll have to try and put together for any newcomer.

Big whoop. What are you trying to prove Brendan? That I come from a different world than you? That I have a different outlook than you? That I have different passions than you? Are you trying to insinuate something?

Your #s are as usual well well off ... and if I had as much time as you do to trawl back in through old posts, I'd do some fancy excel work, and even you would have to concur that your stats are wrong. But I have better things to do, as do you I'm sure.

I am not insuating anything

Facts:

You talk more about Jewish players, Jewish issues, and anything to do with Arabs, Iraq, Muslims than anything else, EVER

I've rarely talked about Iraq on this site. In fact, I've rarely talked about Iraq to anyone bar my mate who grew up in Baghdad (but hey, you'd do anything try and come out on top in a debate, even make shit up).

The way you write the 'facts' part, I'd have to think you're not very clued into the difference between 'Israel' & 'Judaism'. Come to think of it, I'm sure you do and yet you 1st sentence makes you come off much like Paddy ... Come to think of it, that's probably more closer to the truth than I even realize.

But whatevs dude, 'ridicule' me ... You'd crush me so seriously. I mean, this site is my life and when you do this, I go to bed in such pain and question if it all really matters. So please please take it easy on me you tough guy you.
