I know someone who met him & his brother on a flight recently, really nice lad apparently, Muslim too, which I didn't know.

Can they do it? Yesil Can!!

What do you guys think? Why not get him out there for some of the remaining first team games this season?

Hysteria aside, is that lad any good?

He's the one striker at the club who really senses what space in the area he should run into. He can ghost into places where a chance arises. He can shoot from outside the area, he can exploit fast counter attacks, he can do all the tricks but at his best he's also ruthless at sniffing out chances in the box. The yawning gap in the area that we usually see when our attacks break down - that's waiting for Yesil.

First goal at about 3.20, second at about 5.30 here:

I hope the lad can steer injury free and make a name for himself. Although every time I read his name I get that song Yes Sir I Can Boogie by Baccara in my head for some reason.

When he gets into the first team and scores all of you may as well log off for an hour or two because you know I'll be flipping unbearable.

He seems to be the sort of striker whose instinct is actually to get into the box rather than pull out wide/deep to get involved. That's one of the frustrating things about Sturridge, Ballotelli and Borini (less so with Lambert) - when we play one upfront we really need our forward in the thick of it and often they're pulling wide or dropping deep.

Yes. Some strikers don't need to spend all their time looking at where the ball is and waiting to time a run. Yesil, a bit like Lineker and Rush, has that knack of attacking space and anticipating chances. We have forward players who are terribly predictable and prone to ball watching before making a move. Yesil has got lots of shots in his repertory (dinks and chips over the keeper, volleys from outside the area, overhead kicks, scissor kicks, etc etc) but he's most distinctive when he just turns up where the ball breaks in the area and slots it home. He's got really quick and clever feet, too, so he's not easily knocked off the ball in a crowded area. He's had a hell of a time with two big injuries, and he's come back a bit heavyish and needs a good pre-season now, but I just hope Rodgers has the sense to give him a real chance, because he will score goals.

I really hope he makes it, as Macca says, he's got genuine intelligence in and around the box, always finding space and making the kind of runs a top striker would make.

So why does he never get a look in? He's been here a good while.
