Meanwhile, Russian ex-President and current top official Medvedev stood wearing a Dr. Evil or Kim Jong Un style suit in front of a bizarre map showing most of Ukraine divided between Russia, Poland, Hungary and Romania, while saying that any idea of Ukrainian independence “has to be quashed forever” and “Ukraine is Russia, full stop”.

Doesn’t seem like they are ready to negotiate!

These are the Ukrainian developed Magura “drones” Ukraine is using to sink the Russian fleet. From what I’m hearing, this is just the beginning - they are already working on models carrying their own air defence and attack missiles and are able to switch between submarine and surface modes. As usual, war greatly speeds up technological innovation.

After the strike on “Vasili Kotov” Russian military bloggers started calling for all remaining ships to be pulled back to protect them. At this point there is no reliable defence against these, which will carry big implications for conflicts in other areas of the world.

Wow remote control boats.
It’s incredible all of this hasn’t been developed before. Why are we still putting live humans in the trenches in the 21st century? Why are tanks and giant battleships still a thing? It should be swarms of drones shooting lazers at each other and after your drone army is defeated, you surrender because humans cannot fight against robots. Bloodless and efficient.

It's really more about those with more money and tech who can leverage use of these robots and drones. Saves them putting their soldiers on the front line.

Humans cost a lot less than drones and missiles for Putin, and there's a shit load of humans in Russia.

I've seen that movie.. didn't end well for mankind.. lots of time travelling involved to try and right the wrongs..

What's he gonna do when all the young men are killed by the killer Ukrainian robots?
Buy Chinese drones, obviously. I think the West has a clear dilemma: invest huge amount of money and resources in drone and other advanced warfare production now to at least match China’s production capacity or start preparing your children to memorize Xi Jingping’s complete collection of political writings, because they’ll be forced to.

Oh, and defeating Russia is key. They are the ones pushing China to be aggressive; on their own the Chinese would be a lot more pragmatic and non-confrontational.

Imo, that's more of a warning to Zelensky ... Would they have the balls to assassinate him?
They already tried many times. In the first days of the war there was an assassination group already in Kyiv whose task was to kill Zelensky and his top aides. Most of them are dead now.

Not very clear - the aides or the team?

I'm almost afraid to ask!?
There was a kid who died in Belfast, during the COVID summer. Very suspicious stuff and circumstances but the police came out and said there was nothing dodgy going on.

On twitter, there was a guy called Shotgun Paddy who was 'investigating' and posting all kinds of theories.

Athens brother (also called Paddy) got into the notions of this all being a cover up, so we started asking if he was Shotgun Paddy.

Now Athens is mounting an online investigation, from Athens. So Shotgun Petra.

Sorry you had to read all of that

Did you hear the rumours that one of the lads implicated in that case has since committed suicide and another moved to England?

So the Ukrainians copied or re-engineered the Iranian “Shahed” kamikaze drone that has been causing them so much damage and are now mass-producing their own version. The difference - instead of striking civilian targets like Russia does with their Shaheds, they are targeting Russia’s strategic power infrastructure, namely oil refineries. After the first week of daily strikes on oil refineries inside Russia, Wall Street Journal estimated that roughly 10% of Russia’s refining capacity has been knocked offline and the strikes are continuing at a steady pace.

Russia temporarily banned export of oil products in order to keep domestic prices from rising, but this is only a temporary solution. Their air defence is concentrated on the front lines and the territory is way too vast to defend; the advantage of the Shahed-type drones is that they can fly almost unlimited distance, even into Siberia and Far Eastern regions. Ukraine also cleverly targets a specific hard-to-replace component of the refineries that uses Western equipment which Russia cannot procure due to sanctions. So basically the targeted strikes and the sanctions are designed as a one-two punch to bring Russian oil production and consequently its war machine to its knees.

No fuel, no war.

Meanwhile, with no warning or explanation, Russia turned on some kind of super-powerful signal jammer in Kaliningrad for 46 hours, which resulted in 800+ civilian flights mostly in and out of the Baltic states to abruptly lose their access to GPS and other navigation tools. It’s only by luck and skill of the pilots there were no tragedies this time. Absolutely unhindged and hostile behaviour.

It's not the jammer we should be focused on.. its what are they diverting our attention from? Putin has just declared victory in the elections. Something is brewing.

I mean there are other countries Atlas. Put your name to good use.
Nah, I don’t think they have any forces that are not engaged in Ukraine that they can afford to throw at other countries. Not yet, anyway. Which is why they are trying to hurt them by other “creative” means.

However as soon as there is a ceasefire in Ukraine, the danger to other European countries on Russia’s border will increase exponentially.
