As usual with Russia, they flood the zone with contradictory bullshit aimed at different audiences. They will first claim it was in fact a military target, someone else will say it doesn’t matter that it’s civilian because all Ukrainians have to suffer, someone else will say it’s Ukrainian air defence shooting at our own buildings etc. Truth ceased to matter to them long ago.

Jokes aside, this is good news for Ukraine. Prigozhin was unique among Putin’s inner circle because he was basically the one guy who got shit done. No military education, but he was responsible for their only significant success on the battlefield in the last 12 months - capture of Bakhmut. He spearheaded Russia’s illegal efforts to elect Trump in 2016 (convicted in abstentia following the Mueller report and FBI placed a $250,000 bounty on his head). And he almost single-handedly brought a good chunk of Africa into Russia’s orbit.

Now Putin killed his most effective henchman - and a large chunk of the military and the mafia apparatus will never forgive him for it. There will be no “peace deals” next time.
