Would you sign Jamie Vardy?

I've been thinking about this for a while.

I'm generally averse to signing one-season wonders, especially from the Premier League.

But perhaps there's a little more to Vardy? It's been a tough season, but Vardy's still managed 14 goals. He'll probably end the season with 16-17 goals, which suggests that he's probably more than just a one season wonder.

I know he's 30, but consider that he's played professional football for only about 7 years. Plus there's no major injury history. This could well be a player who's peaking late, and has 2-3 very good years still left in him.

With the lack of many top quality strikers around, would you sign him for say about 25 million?

I'll bite.

At the right price, I would, but 25M seems too high for his age. His finishing comes and goes, but he has good instincts to be in the right place and we have been lacking that. And, he works his socks off on both sides of the ball.

But, I think price would likely be an issue. 15-20M I think would work and still leave funds for bigger, longer-term signings.

I'd rather buy Defoe for a season than Vardy. Vardy would be over-priced, over-hyped, and he's a poisonous little shit.

We could do with one or two more horrible cunts in our team. In no way comparing them but I loved how hated Suarez was, was great.

He wouldn't be my first choice. But he would suit our system and would be a vast improvement on our current lot, providing he doesn't lose his pace.

It's a massive NO for me. He's a racist cunt and completely and flippantly disrespected my Nihon-Jin 'cousins'. Heh - Baka-Jin Yo! @juniormember - Help a tomodachi. What's the Japanese for "he's a complete cunt" ? Domo X Hmmmm 'Cho Manko'?

Obviously, Vardy isn't my first choice either.

But I'm trying to look at this realistically.

What our options?

The top dogs like Aubameyang are beyond us. So are the world class talents like Mbappe

The next rung are the Lacazettes, Icardis and Belottis. We might have a shot at them if we get CL football. Even if we do get CL, they're still likely to prefer the likes of Atletico and PSG.

Who does that leave us with?

Dolberg? Dembele (Celtic)? How good are these guys? Are they better than Origi? Will they come in and provide 15 goals a season immediately? If not, can we afford to be developing two young strikers at the same time?

We need someone who can come in and score off the bat. And someone who provides a different alternative to Firmino up front. Someone who has pace, and can run in behind.

I'm struggling to think of better options than Vardy to be honest.

I'd take Defoe for a year or two. With Sunderland going down he'd be out of there like a shot.

For 25+ I'd steer clear of vardy.

I would not be against it. He would definitely improve us. He's a natural finisher and has the work rate and intensity to be really effective for us. The only issue I'm bothered about would be the price. Anything more than £25m and it starts to look excessive.

My first choice would be Dolberg. He's ready. Throw down the £30m needed and prepare yourself to drool.

Unlike you and others here, I can't see him suiting Klopp's style at all TBH. He does work hard, but not in a way which is likely to fit into an interchanging front three.

He'd cost a lot of money for a 30 year old that relies on likely deteriorating pace (over next 2-3 years) and won't be universally popular with the fans.

Of course he'd improve is right now, but I'd rather spend similar on the likes of Dolberg or put towards a splash on an elite 27 year old.

It makes a lot of sense, I think he fits. But age, money and the cunt factor might be too overpowering.

I thought, watching him score for Leicester yesterday, that he has a skill-set that would suit us perfectly (fast, good finisher, works his ass off) but that the 'cunt' factor wouldn't sit right with us (or Klopp).
