Happy to sell him for anything over 7m.
He's just not good enough at any capacity.
He's just not good enough at any capacity.
Well it's fair to say over the last few windows he's been the 'only' DM we've had at the club, with more pressing areas of concern for those respective managers. He does a job and does it ok, last season he had a great spell, but that was amongst what's generally been a hit and miss career with us, but we've got away with using him because he does a job. Hodgson, in fairness, tried to bring a DM in so he obviously wasn't overly convinced, Rafa utilised him in a ridiculously introverted midfield two alongside Masher (which was at times horrendous), and Kenny/Rodgers have had no one else to turn to (bar Spearing, who's clearly not good enough). I wouldn't be suprised to see someone come in, and if someone like Rafa is willing to pay over the odds for Lucas then we should seriously consider it.
Yes, I guess I do take into account other external factors into account as well as the fact that yet to hear of a name to replace him with that gives me any confidence. Normally I rather not move house till I find a new one but I can guess other people work differently...I don't know who we should sign instead (that's the job of our scouts, the transfer committee and the manager), which is why I'm not saying we should get rid regardless. However, your previous post still doesn't stand up. You described selling "a young player with 5 years left on his contract" for £10 mill.as "desperate" without any reference to that player's quality, and you're still saying the same thing in this post above. IMO that's far too simplistic. As for Lucas' quality: if you really think he's worth more than £10 mill, you and I clearly wouldn't define the word "good" in the same way.
To me if someone is willing to sell someone under 25 in the current market for 8 million then it's sounds as if get rid.Which bit of "I'm not saying we should get rid regardless" didn't you get? Of course we need someone to replace him. Where I take issue with you is over the fee. You said £10 mill.for a player of his age with 5 years left on his contract was "desperate". It isn't. He's not worth more, regardless of age or length of contract.
I was just thinking that. How long will it be before Rafa begins to fret under the restrictions of having to work within this system?
P.S. "Riccardo Bigon" sounds like a porn star.
Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano is reportedly top of Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez’ summer shopping list.
Benitez, who has just been installed as Walter Mazzarri’s replacement at the San Paolo, has reportedly handed President Aurelio De Laurentiis a list of transfer targets.
Top of it is apparently Mascherano, who worked with Benitez during their time together at Liverpool.
Reports in Italy suggest that whilst Napoli view a deal as difficult, they do not see it as necessarily impossible.
Midfielder Mascherano has been predominantly used as a centre-back during his three seasons so far at the Camp Nou.
i miss mascher.
Apparently Song for Barcelona is available this summer.
He would be an excellent Lucas replacement.
On second thoughts I'd only sell him if we could replace him with E riksen.
