Balls. Not a single poster on here is unaware of the effects that had. Our inability to defend under Rodgers predated all that, and has survived Gerrard's departure. The only "deluded" fans on here are those who define "deluded" as "those who disagree with me".

Give it a rest, Jules.

We have 10 posters here with a massive hard on for Rodgers head jamming the repeat button.

I think it's only fair that we are allowed to ditch a little back without you losing your knickers every time.

Please?

Mate, FWIW you're still a poster I mostly rate, but that's not the first time you've put up such a post immediately after one of mine saying I want Rodgers to go. If you didn't/don't mean those posts to apply to me, you're not doing a very good job of making that clear.

In any case, two wrongs don't make a right. You might disagree strongly with some posters on here, but comments like "deluded" about them make you sound as though you think you have all the answers. Something to think about, I suggest.

Peace.

I don't think Wiberg even responded to the last post I made in the most recent little squabble we had. I'm not sure if that meant he conceded the point or not.

As usual with people I argue with on here, though, I expect it won't stop him blithely continuing to scatter clearly wrong insults like 'deluded' at me and the other few who take my view of things.

We most certainly do not have even the 4th best squad so I'd say making Top 4 is indeed overachieving. However that is what we rightly expect and after 4 years and untold millions on players it's what he should be delivering.

I don't agree with us not having a squad good enough for top four.

We have the 5th best squad in the league imho so finishing 4th would be an overachievement, but its so close between us and Utd/Arsenal that we should be very very close.
If he gets us top 4 he'll achieve this season main target and would be kept on.
With our defensive issues and Rodgers inability to set up the team I doubt a genuine top 4 challenge is on the cards anywway. A better manager would have this squad at least fighting all the way to the end re a top 4 finish.

We should though scrap the transfer committee now and work towards a Dof.
Changing that set up internally should be done now regardless of Rodgers leaving or not. We dont have to wait until next summer to start that work.
Everyone and his dog can see that the current set up isnt working.

If Rodgers doesnt want to work with a Dof he can fuck off. We've pissed away so much money and signed so many wrong type of players that we need someone else with a football background in that position.
That change can be done now.

I am probably splitting hairs but I think there is so little in terms of quality between us Arsenal and Man U that it shouldn't be the pivotal reason for us not finishing top four. Arsenal are probably ahead of both the other teams, purely in terms of continuity. I wonder are posters reappraising the respective strengths of our squads based on early season performances because if I recall correctly many seemed to talk up the strength of ours, prior to the start of the first game.
But as Gerry says, even if we are still behind in terms of squad quality and depth then that is grounds for valid criticism for Rodgers and the rest of the Liverpool management team.

I have thought about this, and here is where i stand..

1. Rodgers is clearly a smart man who is able and not afraid of taking quick decisions. He has done well for himself largely on the back of this ability. At Liverpool he has not shied away from changing things on and off the pitch, but not all of them have clicked for him, and i'm very willing to give him some concession for this. Taking only this into consideration I would like to see him continue as the manager as I think he is highly capable and backing him could end up being mutually beneficial.

2. On the otherhand, he needs to see the problems he has and accept them. His recent comments and snide remarka about "the need for a defensive coach" that he made last season, points to me that he cannot see his failings. This is not the kind of manager I want to back.

Putting things on the balance I'm finding it hard to make a decision. I would be having a word with hime exactly along these lines if i were the owner and see how he behaves for the rest of the season.

Our fortunes could turn, but if he continues to act like he has always been right...I will be happy to show him the door, if that decision was down to me.

It is a very valid point.
If Rodgers came across as a more likable bloke and less of a conceited, self centered knob he would probably have a bit more sympathy and get a little bit more time from the fans.

No, we're too far gone.

I can sort of see that but by the same token that season we finished second was so unexpected and out of the blue who is to say we can't just go mental and fire up the afterburners again?

I think if we can finish fourth he will have earned another season...

Either way IF we do finish fourth they won't sack him, not in a million years... Finish way down the league losing six one away to Stoke on the last day and keep your job... Finish fourth he would definitely get another go surely..

Molby: not definitely, no. A great deal will depend on whom FSG might be able to fetch in to replace him. It seems pretty clear that he'd have gone last summer if they'd been able to reach agreement with Klopp or Ancelotti, so they've already marked his card, and he'll have to do a lot more to convince them that he's earned a reprieve than register narrow wins against poor sides. What's more, he'll have to do it immediately - only starting a good run after Christmas isn't going to be enough any more.

It isn't going to happen.

If he finishes 1st - keep
If he finishes 2nd - keep
If he finishes 3rd - keep
If he finishes 4th - depends on the 'issue' FFF raised

If he manages to get us winning, then fair enough. But let's be honest, he's never gonna get that back four to a level they need to be. We've clearly needed a new DM for donkeys and he's ignored it. I personally don't dislike the bloke as much as some people here, so I wouldn't mind if he stayed. However I just don't see him managing to get over these hurdles we've had his whole tenure in the next couple of weeks.

It's kinda like asking if you'd stay with a bird who used to suck your dick like a half starved village idiot draining a cow's udder of milk but has turned into a weirdo who thinks even a tiny bit of bum fingering is worthy of massive praise if she upped her game and started bringing her mates round to rim you.

It's not very likely, but if she did that, then yes I would forget about those barren times.

I admit that some of these posters here gets on my tits and I might even want to piss them off a little.

That said I certainly never meant you specifically. I think you always approach the subject reasonably pragmatic. You know I rate your input highly and I'm not saying you are wrong as such.

I just think that the issue is more complex than just a boot in the ass and out the door.

I think we would look like fools if we axed Rodgers right now. In 5 games times... Will that might be another issue.

Peace and good thoughts.

Sorry Peter. Must have missed it. Will look for it when I get in the office tomorrow.

I think our encounters has been in a fair and reasonable tone of late. Right?

Top 4 might not mean much at the end of this season if England loses the 4th CL spot to Italy.
