would they really do that for political gains

The more I hear about this battle of different councils and how they manage their budget cuts the more I am convinced people are messing with people and the public services ETC.

The councils have been asked to reduce their budgets down to what they were between 3-5 years ago yet the labour councils especially say they are going to close libraries, swimming pools, youth clubs and play centres, some say even public Loos will close.

So these have been in place for decades yet suddenly returning to a budget of 4 years ago requires them to close? Hmmm very suspicious.

In the news today a liberal council which is the 4th largest in England has announced they have managed to make all the required savings without closing any of the service previously named, they simply laid off some staff they have hired since the budget of 4 years ago was in place and cut down admin duplication and waste.

A spokesman for that council is accusing labour councils of using political reasons for making the worst most damaging cuts to their services which will get the most press, all to make the govt look worse and back up Labours "too may cuts too quick" complaints.

Surely these councils would not do this to make a political point would they ?
