Because he's being out injured for nearly a year. And we've been told repeatedly that players out that long don't come back and do well.

Although it is still too early to dismiss that theory yet...

Exactly. Those type of injuries are were more damaging before than they are now considering the medical and surgical advances made in the past 20 years.
He's also young and driven. That boy Lucas can play.

It's not so much that the injury is "damaging" or slows the player down more. I think a lot of it has to do with the player taking a cautious approach, and (maybe subconsciously) not giving 100%.

Either way, he;s started out well, and I think he'll be at his best in no time.
