Arsenal set to move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic [Corriere dello Sport]

Mohamed Elneny says he'll sign for Arsenal today in a deal worth £6.5m [Ahram]

Cant read Italian but there is story on right had side of the page with a picture of Axel Witzel and mentioning milan?

That would be good jan signing.

Brozovic is a talented CM playmaker. We could do with that sort of player, but I'm not sure Brozovic will be ready to contribute straight away. He hasn't played much first team football at Inter over the last 2 years.

I have never seen him play, but there are lot off rumors linking him to Barca, which is a good sign for an attacking player.

The CM playmaker is probably my favourite player in football; so I like keeping an eye out for such players. It's also my great wish that Klopp brings in such a player - just what we need to complement Can's fight and Henderson's running in midfield.

Except there aren't very many coming through at the moment. Brozovic is one; though at this stage, he's just a prospect. I doubt he'd be able to contribute even for us straight away, let alone Barca. Neves is stated to be one, as is Tielemans, but they're way too young at the moment. I had high hopes for Adam Maher at PSV, but I haven't seen him play or read much about him recently.

Verratti and Koke are obviously the leading lights for that position presently, but they're surely out of our league - destined for Barca/Bayern.

That only leaves Gundogan who we have a shot at - given that he has only 18 months on his contract, and the Klopp connection - that said, he's bound to attract interest from the likes of City, Chelsea, United, Juve etc. So don't see why he'd choose us unless he really loves Klopp. He'd be great though - Henderson, Can and Gundogan would certainly be a potential title-winning midfield.

Other option I can think of is somehow getting Modric if Madrid want to get rid of him in a year's time.

Doesnt look like Gundogan will sign a new contract, which means he's got 1 year left next summer.
For 15ish mill we'll surely have a chance. Juve are heavily linked.

We'd have no chance of Modric. He's world class and most clubs would be after him.

Bollocks, No it isn't. We paid 15m for Joe Allen, 25m for Adam Lallana, 29m for Firmino.

It's a fair fee, for a decent footballer at Premiership level

15 mill for Allen - bonkers
25 mill for Lallana - bonkers
22 mill for Firmino - who knows yet. HE'S BEEN HERE FOR 4-5 MONTHS

8 mill for Naismith is bonkers aswell.

And its a difference in buying first team / key players than a reserve/squad player aswell.
The 3 players you've listed were players the clubs didnt want to sell.

Oh well that's fine, overpaying by 10m for shit players just because their shit clubs 'didn't want to sell'

Have you ever heard of negotiation tactics? 'Yeah, you can have Lallana for 10m, we actually do want to sell him, and your well-documented and widely known desire to buy him is fortunate for all concerned'

Fucking as if. Southampton were laughing their TITS off in amazement at the price we were willing to pay for both Lallana and Lovren

It's a reasonable price for an experienced striker who will run his arse off and score you goals. That price is the starting point of any premier league striker regardless of quality. It's far from bonkers.

Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is planning a £10m bid for CSKA Moscow's Russia midfielder Alan Dzagoev, 25, as he looks to add more quality to his squad in January. (Daily Mirror)

This guy still highly rated?

So 8 mill gets you a reserve striker from Everton who has scored 25 goals in 122 games and is soon to be 30 years old.

No wonder this league has more money then sense.

The last bit I agree with. 45 mill. We're bonkers. Rodgers was bonkers.

It will probably cost Everton more than 8 million to replace his goals though.

Selling Dirk for 1 million was bonkers.

Naismith is a good player and well worth the £8m, he's always reminded me alot of Dirka. I'd have taken him at the time we signed quite a few of our overpriced shite players that Rafa and Rodgers have subjected us to, because at least you know you'd have got a few goals out of him and 100% every week.
