We can win the league - absolutely....

.... but we won’t.

Bayern will knock us out of the Champions League and we’ll drop points in the league. We’ll lose at least one league game before the end of the season - have a feeling it’ll be Spurs that do us over and we’ll draw with Chelsea.

City will more than likely wrap up the league when they slaughter Utd on 25th April.

I can see them doing the quadruple.

DUMBELDORE'S LEADER STILL LEADS FROM THE FRONT!!!

Had a little wobble immediately after the match, but I put that down to his "drinking the poisoned water to get the horcrux in a cave" moment. Probably means he will die soon and we'll go on to win it with a tear in our collective eye

I voted yes, and think we have every chance of winning it as it will most likely be very close right until the end.
Its easy to forget what an insane season we're having when you are competing against the most expensive, most talented and probably the greatest depth related squad ever built. Our points tally after 29 games is better than our total finish in 16 of the last 25 seasons. And there are still 27 points to be fought about. We have conceded 15 goals in 29 games. 8 goals in 15 away games. Alisson has 17 clean sheets already.
Its unbelievably good so far.

I find it weird that people are giving up already. Every season when we've been scraping for 4th and even worse clogging about in 8th, we've talked about being in a title fight. And when we are finally there, still within a point with 9 games to go, you give up. Its mindboggeling in all honesty.

City may win it in the end, but we are certainly still in the race with everything to play for. City still have some tough games to come and there will be some twists and turns in the final 9 games. Football is not a logical sport in all games, or listens to commonsense.
If it did, Utd would have beaten Wigan and City wouldnt have won their first league title.

Keep fighting and keep believing. Its still possible, fuck giving up.

I believe that if we go out and play the attacking game that we can, we will be right up there until the last game of the season. If we keep playing like 2019 Liverpool we will be out of it within 2 games time.

My heart says yes but my brain says no so i voted no. Momentum and form is with city. We would need to win 3 or 4 games in a row to stand a chance and on current form i can't see us doing that.

I get the momentum thing but we’ve not conceded in something like 500 minutes and in 3 of the last 4 we didn’t score included Bayern Munich and 2 “derby” games. Next 2 games are Burnley and Fulham. 2 decent fixtures to start getting back into the scoring groove.

I think we will know one way or another by 15th April.
If we are within 2 points of City on that date I think we will win the league.
Our toughest games are Spurs and Chelsea at home.
Theirs are Palace, United and Spurs.

I think we still have a good chance looking at the fixtures. We KNEW Everton and United were going to be the potential stumbling blocks and we have come past them only one point off the top.

Its hard to see the positives after dropping points, but if we dont do it, it will be Leicester and West Ham that cost us, not United and Everton.

I still think we have a good chance.
They have lost 3 of their 14 away games.

They have 5 more aways to play.
Thats the opportunity.
The worry is wether we can take our opportunity.
We wont learn anything this next couple of games.
Keep it within a point and lets see what happens when they travel to Palace, United and Burnley with a tough fixture at Spurs the only thing breaking that up (not to mention the Cardiff game could be crowbarred into that 2 weeks)

Its not over yet.

A point at Old Trafford & Goodison is standard & exactly what I expected could well happen, it's the draws against West Ham & Leicester that stick in my craw.

Regardless though, we're just 1 solitary point behind with 9 games to make that up.

It's the momentum/form that's the issue & that could cost us, but I'm confident we will bounce back. We're not conceding goals, & even with the front three not performing we are capable of scoring against & beating 7 of the sides left to play. The other 2, Chelsea & Spurs we will need the front three to help us get the points.

They will drop points. We have to make sure we don't.

I said 12 points minimum from these 4 games before the international break, and if we didn't, we don't deserve to win the league..

10 is the most we can get now.. We have blown it.. The team knows it and Klopp knows it..

City have momentum, that momentum will build over the next few weeks due to the nature of their fixtures.. (Watford, Fulham and Cardiff).. They could even be 4 points clear before we play our next game..

Really hard to see past them winning it now tbh.. They could easily win their 9 remaining games.. We have a chance to go two points clear, going into the international break if we beat Burnley and win at Fulham, albeit they will have a game in hand

Our next have game after that is Spurs whilst they play Fulham away from home

We are banking on UTD to do us a favour in the grand scheme of things.. Will that happen??... Never in a month of Sundays..

The team doesnt know it, or certainly doesnt think that they've blown it. Klopp doesnt either.
Stop being a fanny.

Timeline of delusion, a short story of tragedy:

"We're seven points clear and City look vulnerable. They have to win"

"We're still four points ahead and they have to go to Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton!"

"I'd prefer to be three points ahead than three points behind"

"They'll drop points. They're having a wobble and don't look convincing"

"If we win all our remaining games we'll win the title, who cares what they do?"

"It's only one point, stop being fannies"

Giving up on the title with being 1 point behind and 9 games to go is a bigger delusion and tragedy then all those posts put together.

"Giving up" sounds a bit harsh. I did think we were going to win the title, started having serious doubts in January, and then thought we wouldn't do it after we drew against West Ham and Leicester. And was certain after the United game.

This ain't any normal League though is it . ??

This is City.. a team that can easily win their 9 remaining games without even thinking about it.. a team that scored 100 points last season to win it.. They have momentum, we do not..

On current form its arguably more dillusinal to think we actually have a chance..

It will all end in tears..

We have blown it.. that's how it is...

Come on people how are the no's winning we are Liverpool we never do anything the easy way have some fucking faith YNWA

I'm not sure if champions has this kind of attitude though of saying we have to win this particular (easier) match so that we can afford to drop points in a later match.

Teams that win leagues just seem to win when it really matters, regardless of the opposition and whether it's at home or away.

We all know that for us to win the league, city have to drop some points, and we have to take advantage at the same time. Looking at the below fixtures, I really can't see where city drop points, or where we would take advantage? The only times they're dropped points this season have been against the run of play in a pretty flukey manner.

Us:

Burnley
Fulham
Spurs
Southampton
Chelsea
Cardiff
Huddersfield
Newcastle
Wolves

Them:

Watford
Fulham
Cardiff
Crystal Palace
Spurs
Manchester United
Burnley
Leicester
Brighton

Our recent form suggests the gap could widen in the coming weeks.

And then we can look forward to more classics, like:

"We'd have taken four points behind with a game in hand at the start of the season"

"Fulham and Cardiff are fighting for their lives! They'll give everything!"

"If they drop points against Spurs, we can still do it. We just need to score 6 and hope they lose"

"Until it's mathematically impossible, I'm not giving up"

Until finally it's just Hansern, wandering around an empty forum in a daze, posting threads like "It's possible UEFA will ban City now, retrospectively dock points and strip them of the title! YNWA! WE CAN DO THIS"

Look at the dates they will play those games with fa cup and champions league games. The intensity of games will be the time they lose points.

We've still got an outside shot, but that's all it is. City have the experience, the squad and the form, whilst we've forgotten how to win football matches. As it stands I think City will win the league by 3-5 points.

It's been a terrific season regardless so we shouldn't be too disheartened. This year's experience will be vital in the future regardless of the outcome.

Yes, we always build on seasons when we come second.
