I doubt our interest has gone much further than asking the price, followed by a collective 'Fuck That' and the turning off of the Fax machine.
Same argument could have been put forward for Ronaldo, Hazard, and plenty of others to the one you're putting forward here; playing in a shite league, not scoring a lot, and a few assists. Didn't stop top sides paying a fuckload for them though.

This guy is 25 and been playing in mediocre European leagues for ages. Whatever else he might be, I think it's probably safe to say he wouldn't score many goals for us.

12M for Ronaldo at the time was insane. It's as comparable to the 30M odd for cunts these days.
And Hazard hadn't proven it on the big stage either. We're not the only club to be linked with this Willian chap for these figures. I'm not saying he's worth it cos I've seen bugger all of him, but he's been linked to City, Chelsea, us and everyone else all summer for these figures so I'm guessing Europe's elite think he's worth it.
It's hardly the Andy Carroll situation where one club overvalues him by 20M.
Why aren't Europe's elite trying to sign him then? It's all well and good City and Chelsea spunking that amount on him. We can't afford to take that kind of gamble and we've got Suarez, Coutinho and Sterling who can fill the role.
We need another top class attacking player, I fully believe that. If this chap is it, then fine. Like I say, i've seen very little of him, but if he's this in-demand, there must be something about him.
I do agree we should have other priorities though.
