The most skilful player in terms of showboating I think I've ever seen is that hateful cunt Diouf, & it just didn't translate into performance on the pitch.

It is an inflated market, but it's inflated mostly by stupid clubs or clubs who have cash to burn.
It's the same market where potential superstars like Aubameyang and Strootman have gone in the 15 million range.
30 million should be fetching you an on-the-brink superstar, a top 5 player in his position if you will.
I don't think Willian is going to be that. I don't even think winger is top priority for us. We should be signing a world class midfielder instead.

Would a world class midfielder like, say Ozil (who's available) be keen to come to a club who's not been in the CL for 5 years and isn't even in Europe?
I'd imagine midfielders and defenders will be the priority next summer, along with a Suarez replacement.
I'm a bit bemused at where this need for a 'marquee player' has come from. Well, in a way, I do know - as fans, we've ALWAYS wanted marquee signings, but we've rarely got them, partly because they don't want to come, partly because we can't afford them and partly because the more rational need is for good young players who'll become marquee players. So why there's such a desire to get a marquee player now is a bit of a puzzle. And aren't marquee players, so-called, really, really, big names? I haven't heard much about Willian. I'll be delighted if we get him because, from my crash course of Willian 101 during the past week, he sounds really exciting, but the fee being bandied about sounds more like a marquee price for a non-marquee player. All a bit odd. But I'm not against it!
Yeah, I agree about the core of players but I dont think we're in a hurry to replace Lucas or Agger this season. I dont think we need to with Agger at all tbh, I'd rather find a suitable long term partner for him like Papa. Toure looks like he maybe can play that part this season.
With Lucas its obvious that we need better, but adding a quality attacker is more important in this window.
Playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2 is much better with our current midfielders. Signing Willian means that we can play Coutinho behind Sturridge and Willian out wide left.

we need to bolster our attack, still lacks depth compared to others. yes 30m is a lot, but the fact is that the market is distorted, dwight gayle has gone for 8.5m, wtf is he?
