Why Marek Hamsik would be perfect for Liverpool?

With the transfer window open, a number of top players have been linked withLiverpool as they continue their search for the “marquee” signing of the season that is rumoured to be an attacking midfielder.
Of them all, the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has been talked about the most. But with Borussia Dortmund set to acquire his signature, it looks as if Liverpool should start looking at other alternatives soon.
With a host of names linked by various sources, one of the names that stand out is Marek Hamsik of Napoli. Although he has said he is currently happy with his contract at Napoli, a fine bid could lure him away to Anfield. Should he join, it would be a huge boost for Liverpool. Let us have a look at how things would change.
Tactics watch
Looking at the tactics, he could be deployed as a central attacking midfielder in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 formation. What he adds to the team is faster attack play with his creative passing and dribbling coupled with pace. It would also improve Liverpool’s counter attacks which have been highly dismal the previous season.
Liverpool’s attack has been relatively slower compared to many teams with the adoption of the passing game under Brendan Rodgers. Though the January signing, Philippe Coutinho, has added a lot of creativity, a lot still needs to be done if Liverpool are to aim for a top 4 finish or higher.
Improvement in Gerrard’s performance
Signing Hamsik would mean the club legend Steven Gerrard getting more rest. Though he would be ready to play it out for Liverpool every minute of every game, it is important for him to be rested as he is 33 now.
If Gerrard gets more rest, it would mean he can give his all for Liverpool when he plays as he need not worry about his stamina wearing out. Also, with the recovery of his shoulder still going on, it would be better for him not to sweat it out as much as he would hope to, if he wants to keep himself going.
The last missing piece?
Liverpool are currently looking stable in all other departments except midfield and in particular attacking midfield, with only 2-3 realistic choices for big games. Hamsik could well prove to be the last missing piece for Liverpool and who knows, he could be the deciding factor for Liverpool’s position at the end of the season, should he sign.
Everything depends on how interested Liverpool are and also how tempted he would be if Liverpool bids for him. Liverpool could get his services for 15 -20m euros, which could be a very good bargain for a player of his class. All remains to be seen as the transfer window brings in more surprises daily.

NO CHANCE to sign him

1) not enough money
2) Why would he leave the 2nd best team in Italy (title challengers to Juve) and CL footy for us?
3) Close ties to the Mafia in Naples supposedly

I don't watch Italian league football but was very keen to see him for Slovakia in the last world cup, I saw him in all 4 of their matches and was hugely disappointed.

Having said that, Totti has been awful everytime I've seen him play too but I'm very much aware that he's been one of the best players in the world over many years.

Isn't that said about every half decent player Napoli have?

Anyways, as said, we have zero chance of signing him so it's as pointless a question as "Why Lionel Messi would be perfect for Liverpool".

I don't think he's all that. I reckon the reason he's still at Napoli at the age of 26 is because after all the hype early on he's never quite stepped up to that next level. Good player. Not so sure about great.

Rafa made Hamsik the captain of Napoli. He will stay there for a long time.

Maybe we could revive our interest in Draxler? Schalke started the season horribly and the manager is on the verge of sack...

I suggested the same after they drew their 1st leg against PAOK at home. Interesting to see what happens today in the 2nd leg, if they miss out on CL there should be a realistic chance to get him.

We'll probably witness a lot of transfer activity taking place after the 2nd leg when certain clubs crash out of the CL. The real transfer merry-go-round starts tonight me thinks.

He is now the main man at Napoli.

He's so far resisted all the big clubs over the past 3 seasons.

Gonna take something big to prize him away ... also he is good friends with the mafia in Naples and gets treated like a god ... so not surprised at all he has chosen to stay lol

Benitez: 'Hamsik smarter than Gerrard'

Rafa Benitez was impressed by Napoli’s 4-2 victory over Chievo and revealedMarek Hamsik “has more tactical intelligence than Steven Gerrard.”
The former Liverpool and Chelsea manager is having a great start to theSerie A season with two consecutive wins in which Hamsik scored four goals.
“Hamsik is very important because he slots in at the right time, but GonzaloHiguain also does well to create space for him,” Benitez told Sky Sport Italia.
“Is Hamsik like Gerrard? They are different players. Hamsik doesn’t haveGerrard’s strength, but he does have more tactical intelligence.”
Chievo twice pegged Napoli back in the first half, but the Partenopeieventually emerged 4-2 winners.
“There were many positive things about this match. We started well, especially in the first half-hour. We scored twice, conceded twice, but reacted well. There were a few mistakes, though I think this team is working well.”

[article=http://www.bsports.com/statsinsights/football/the-serie-a-column-week-1]The arrival of Rafa Benitez and his traditional 4-2-3-1, together with the signing of Higuain and Callejon seem perfect to pursue this aim but it is Marek Hamsik the player that could possibly benefit more from the new tactical display and improve his already excellent goal contribution.

The Slovakian already proved himself prolific attacking midfielder, having scored 70 goals in 262 appearances with Napoli at an average of 0.27 per match prior to the start of the season, but should he replicate the progress that Steven Gerrard during Benitez’s spell at Liverpool Benitez would have in hand one of the highest goal scoring potential in Italy:[/article]

Bale joined Real Madrid before the close of the transfer window in a world-record deal thought to be in the region of €100million (£85million).

Bale's price-tag has created debate around the footballing world and Benitez feels Slovakian ace Hamsik would be worth more than the Welshman if he was on the market.

"Is Bale worth the 100 million euros Real Madrid paid for him? If so, then I'd say you can't put a price on Hamsik - and he is not for sale," Benitez told Mediaset.

Benitez also hailed Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis for backing him in the transfer market to replace Edinson Cavani this summer.

"President Aurelio De Laurentiis loves me and he showed faith in me," added Benitez. "He did his 100% to improve the team.

"After Cavani's departure I gave a list with five possible replacements and between them there was Higuain."[/article]
