Why can't we sell Charlie Adam?

Seems as footballers are always so keen to label themselves as slaves, couldn't we just sell him to someone without his permission?

Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has dismissed rumours of him wanting to leave the club by declaring that he is happy with life at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers has set about making wholesale changes at Liverpool since his arrival earlier this summer, as he seeks to mould the club in his vision. Following the signing of Joe Allen from Swansea City, it had thought that Adam may be one of the players to leave the club, with moves to Everton and Fulham suggested.

However, the Scotland international has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool, and has no intention of leaving the club, one year on from his £7 million move from Blackpool.

"I am happy at Liverpool and why would I leave after a year? There is no point,” Sky Sports report.
"I am open enough to say I have had a conversation with the manager but for me I'm not going anywhere.
"I am playing with some of the best players in the world, I have a good coach, good manager, and I am learning every day from what he is doing.
"I want to play this year and hopefully I get the opportunity to do that. It is a big season for everybody. For us at Liverpool it is a big season, we have got Europa League and we want to improve on what we did last year in the league."

This is what happens when you bring sub-standard footballers to the club on big wages. They know that this is as good as it's ever going to get for them, and they don't want to leave. Can't blame them really.

He's apparently been telling people he knows he's good enough to force his way into the first team with his performances.

He seems to think he's better than the he is.

I think Rodger's just needs to be harsh & tell him he's not good enough.

In fairness, having watched Gerrard's performance on Saturday, can you really blame him?

thats the problem appears. A few years ago we were losing Masha, Torres, Alonso, when they wanted to leave, but now despite having a shit season last season , none of these fuckers want to leave.

What this also shows though is that we have bought players with the total wrong mentality - not just to fooball but in life generally. Most people correct me if I am wrong - if you like the job you do and its important to you and say where you work the terms and conditions are great and salary is top end of the scale but your not being challenged enough and are kind of really bored and the manager doesn't reate you, and then say you had the option of joining another company where you would be one of the main players and the salary was a few grand less, BUT you got to use your skills in full again, would you not consider that leaving and moving on is better for you ?

If Adam, and Carrol are happy with their condition then the truth of the matter is - these guys don't really like football enough.

That's harsh. Can't be so cut and dried. It's not Adam and Carroll' fault we signed them, gave them a big wages increase, offered them the chance to play for a much bigger Club etc.

Just because they appear to be out of favour at the minute, why should they just pack up and leave after one season at the Club in Adam's case, and a season and a half in Carroll's?
Maybe they look at their competition and fancy forcing their way back into the side? Nothing wrong with that.

Unless they're being unprofessional - becoming a bad influence, not putting in the required effort in training etc then they've every right to stay and wait for their chance if and when it comes.

Gary25 - I don't think I am harsh, West Ham promised to meet his financial needs and even stated that they were willing to build an entire team around Carroll. Adam would be used as on one of the main midfielders if he went to Everton, Stoke or Fullham where he would hopefully cement a full-time spot in midfield. A proffesional sports persons priority should always be motivated to ply his trade full-time and not be on the bench waiting or sit their knowing he is not going to fit into the managers plans and is not wanted. Especially in the case of Carroll who requires regular full-time footy to ensure he reaches peak performance levels.

Does anyone know what Adam himself has said?

In short:

"I have no intension of moving my fat arse from Liverpools bench, I know I will get a chance one day - in the meantime I will sit on the bench and munch on Rolo's all day".

-- its very similar to the above - just read a few posts earlier for the quotes which have been picked up by the main newspapers.

Oh right thanks.

Unsurprisingly that makes no sense.

So if you're well paid, happy, etc but not being "challenged" at work - you should swap it all for a lower paid, unhappy but "challenging" position.

Right..... so the mistake we've made is not signing players with severe mental issues then.

I am not saying the salary is hugely lower which in the case of Adam may not be. I am just saying for people that love what they do - its soul destroying to be bored out of your head and not using your skills. In the end it affects your skills overall as you don't apply them regularly. Especially when it comes to fooball.

Quite probably, he looks at who is front of him in the pecking order and thinks he's better. Nothing wrong with that attitude. And, on the weekend's evidence, he's got a point.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has played down talk that Charlie Adam is heading for the Anfield exit door.
Adam's

future has been the subject of speculation since the arrival of Rodgers on Merseyside this summer.

The Scotland international has been linked with the likes of Everton

and Fulham,

but he revealed last week he was happy to stay with the Reds.

Rodgers insists rumours that the former Blackpool

man is not a part of his plans are wide of the mark and that he is a long-term admirer of the midfielder having once tried to sign him when he was in charge of Reading
.

"Charlie was brought in for a lot of money after a terrific time at Blackpool," said Rodgers.
Broken

"Last season was a wee bit broken in terms of injury but he has trained well in pre-season and will play against Hearts.

"He's a talent - everyone knows that - and he played well in the last Scotland game.
"You never forecast anyone's career and all I can talk about is the here and now. At the minute he's working hard and looking to fight for a place.
"I actually tried to buy Charlie when I was manager of Reading so where these stories come from, I don't know."

Fucking awful footballer, I can tell you that much. He doesn't track back, he doesn't pressure the ball, he has no real vision, he can't tackle. Unreal.
