But if we do get taken over a la Newcastle, the titles and trophies that will inevitably follow will not feel anything like the same... They'll be hollow. Meaningless. I will not have to blink back the tears like I did watching the final seconds of the chavs beating oil money fc a few years back - Those day will be gone forever. It's not exciting or emotional if it's inevitable...

See, I know the world cups are all money and stuff, but for me they also represent the love of a player for their nation. There's minimal financial reward for some of them, more the honour of playing. And i love that.
I get that, mate, and it's fair enough. I just don't care... Maybe it's because I'm tired of Ireland being a joke, or because I'm sick of being force-fed Harry Kane scoring 34 goals against postmen from San Marino, or because much international footie is utter shite now, or maybe it's a combination of all of these factors. Either way, all the world cup can do for me is injure all the citeh and chavs players, but leave ours alone.

I have a proper mancunian city fan as a mate, and although he supports them, and is quite defensive about the Arabs, he admits he enjoyed supporting them more back in the day when they were in Maine Road and bouncing around the divisions. He can't put his finger on exactly why, but I think the reason is clear. With City's resources it's a disappointment on some level if they don't win every competition they have entered into.

My City friend is becoming more unhinged by the day - nothing but world domination of all football will suffice; their owners are proper football people that definitely aren’t in it for money and there is no such thing as sports washing; etc.
His latest one was truly magnificent - Klopp’s definitely off because he said he’s committed to LFC, Pep is definitely off because he never says he’s committed to MCFC (except when he does say it), but the fact he hasn’t signed a new contract is proof he’s definitely staying.
I don’t get them - there’s something wrong there - it’s like they’re ashamed and need to believe in some made up story to help them enjoy their success.
