I was just thinking that after Gerrard retires we wont have any true club legend playing for us anymore. Probably for the first time ever.
That line of kings (bleaaaurch) from the Shankly era will finally be broken right?

Its probably the end of that kind of player isnt it? And I dont mean a player who stays at one club for life, Barnes, Hansen, Kenny etc all signed for us. But I mean that player who no matter who they played for is JUST a Liverpool player.

Strange to think.

Its this reason that i'm breaking the bank to do whatever I can to get to the Cup Final if we get there.

Losing my childhood hero and an absolute icon, there literally is no one to take the mantle from him.

I was thinking that myself mate but the ONLY player I can see that would want to stay no matter what is Skrtel.
Maybe he is the one.

I think it is a bit late for Martin.
I am too long in the tooth and cynical to think that, should one of our current crop turn into a world class player, they will want to stay in the hope of guiding us to glory. That said Stevie flirted with leaving on more than one occasion.
Perhaps Coutinho, Can, Ibe or someone else will be the worldy to lead us back to the top of the tree.
Or perhaps it will be the manager that is going to be a Liverpool legend?

Henderson..... legend in the making..

He will approach Gerrard in a few years with the sound of his league title medals making a wonderful 'chink' sound as he shows them to him.

Gerrard will look on with a tear in his eye, taken aback to the time of the fatal 'slip'

I'm calling this one the earliest.
This will be reforged by none other than:
Emre Can.
Ten years from now we will have won the league at least three times and he will be the Graeme Souness-like character.

Skrtel definitely. He's been here along time, has given brilliant service and performances during his time here.

Then fuck off to barca or Madrid... announcing them to be his 'dream club'
If he goes in 4-5 years he will have given us 7-8 years of service so I'd have no problems with that.

You never left a job for something you wanted more?

True..

But where talking about a legend here and who is going to replace him....

Gerrard is probably the last kind of World Class player brought through the ranks and only stays and plays for one club.. I don't think you will see it again.. Not in the Premier League anyway....

Too much money on the game now

First it's "would of," now "where" instead of "we're." You, sir, are reinventing English language as we speak!

Wait, if it has to be a scouser to lead us into the future we still have Flanno.

Or we could bring back back Jonjo, king of the golf.

In the current climate of football, I can't see any foreigner being a the next LFC legend in the same mould as Gerrard.

We will probably have some Alonso/Suarez/Torres types come & go ... but in terms of Gerrard legendary status, can't see it happening tbh.

They will always come & go - especially when the likes of Barca, Madrid & Bayern come in for them after 3 or 4 good seasons for us.

I can see Henderson sticking around for a while & performing quite solid for us ... but even then, would that be enough for him to be considered in the Gerrard mould for us at the end of his playing career if that's how it pans out? Loved & respected, certainly ... but revered, I think not.

Flannagan, after last seasons performances, was also a player I thought could be the next Carragher for us ... hopefully he can get his injuries sorted and get back playing. We do miss his aggression in defence.

sturridge in on course to possibly be the quickest LFC striker to 100 goals - good foundation for a legend.

Sinclair, our youngest ever player, could go on to be a legend (long-shot admittedly).

I liked the way Carra highlighted Coutinho making sure that our defenders went forward to celebrate the goal with Hendo last night.
He seems to be stepping up his sense of responsibility within the team.
Perhaps he is the one?
