I think that shoudl be s(h)trong as it is the s that is potentially softened, not the tQuite a few other accents have contributed to the Scouse one. The bit you rightly identify is an import from the Irish accent and that's been a st(h)rong connection over the years. One of my friends at school was Irish and said being a Scouser qualified me for honorary Irish status.

Nomad wasn't agreeing with me, he was pointing out my customary typoWith respect, I don't agree with either of you. Adding an "h" to the "s" turns that into a "sh" sound which doesn't belong there - you'd end up sounding like Schteve McClaren. I maintain the "h" belongs with the "t".
