What's he done now?

I don't know why players' representatives don't just cite all the FA employees who've been let off scot free for racist remarks. David Elleray, for example, was allowed to carry on after asking a black ref if he'd got a tan or been down a coal mine. Widely reported, widely denounced, the FA merely 'reminded' him of its code of conduct and announced that the case was closed. The organisation is so hopelessly hypocritical it wouldn't be difficult for a half-decent lawyer to expose it.

But they aren't "role models" in the "public spotlight".

Our society has made a decision that if you are really good at kicking a ball, that we'll not spend too much time educating you, and shower you with lots of money.

Social media gives these people more reach with that completely neglected brain than the leading minds of a generation.

I just wish he was better at kicking that ball to warrant the fact that he is a sports writers wet dream on a slow news day.

He's pissed me off big time. I thought he was supposed to provide us with some entertainment with his many zany antics. Instead we get him cribbing 20 year old shit jokes and possibly getting banned for it. If you are going to get banned for posting something on instagram at least do it right. A photoshopped picture of Gary Linekar, Sepp Blatter and Arsene Wenger all involved in a group transgender midget orgy might do it. He could add Luis Suarez in the background chomping on a mince pie to keep it festive.
Have you written to him?

Love this so called FA investigation. He put the pic up then took it down. Dave whelan said on radio Jews love money and the word chink. He admits it and said sorry. What exactly is there to investigate hardly need miss marble do they. FFS

They're attempting to justify their existence.

He wont get a ban. The FA know that it will be a bigger punishment for him and the club if he's allowed to play. No surprise we are playing better since he's been injured.

Mario is a crazy foreigner though. He's so crazy you might even say he's lost his marples.

The hacks are really pissed off that he hasn't blown up any buildings, thrown bundles of money at street people, beaten up a teammate or invaded a convent, so they're retaliating by finding outrage in more basic things, like 'Mario mocks the disabled by walking on two feet'. It's about time someone had a word and actually defended the daft twit.

It's Marple, dear. Miss Marple.

The whole pathetic lot of them failed at that a very long time ago.

If they genuinely had, they wouldn't still be around. You only have to look at the articles written by the press since Ballotelli's instagram post, and people of the like of Lord Ouseley responding. The majority of people lap this shit up. They want to see footballers fail, and particularly rich famous footballers. This story - or non-story - should have ended when Ballotelli apologised. He did something stupid, but that's all it was. The message he was trying to get over was don't be racist, and he clumsily fucked it up. Eventually he realised despite an initial defensive response - and who the hell hasn't acted defensively as a first reaction when they're criticised (especially by the presumed tonnes of people on twitter who would have hurled abuse at Mario) - that this picture was silly, itself offensive, and he took it down. Liverpool should have had a word as his employer, and that's it.

The problem is that we're living in a world of constant, furious outrage at everything that happens. We worship at the altar of individual footballers and delight at any opportunity to bring them down to size. The FA - in an attempt to appear as anything other than a bunch of incompetent semi-corrupt greedy bastards, leap on this opoortunity to say 'Look at us! Look how decisive we are!' And because it's a footballer being shamed, because it's Ballotelli again, that's all the majority will care about.

Wouldn't take issue with any of that. The fact that they're still around doesn't mean they've genuinely justified their position though - all it does is demonstrate their skill at surviving, much like Blatter at FIFA. Going by the bulk of your post above, I doubt we actually disagree on this.
