Balotelli getting into bother again. I don't actually know what he posted so can't comment too much. I will say though this signing is quickly turning into a fucking disaster of epic proportions.

The Football Association is likely to look into an alleged anti-Semitic social media post by Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli later deleted the post on his Instagram page, which portrayed the Nintendo character Super Mario - with whom he shares a nickname - alongside a racial stereotype and anti-Semitic comment.
Balotelli was quickly criticised by other social media users, and the posts were deleted.
Balotelli later posted: "My Mom is jewish so all of u shut up please (sic)."
A spokesman for Liverpool said: “We are aware of the posting which has since been promptly deleted by the player. We will be speaking to the player about the issue.”
The incident comes after a controversy involving Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan, who has been charged by the FA over comments about Jewish and Chinese people.
Under the FA's social media guidelines, the minimum ban for race-related breaches of rules is five games.

His apology/explanation:

I apologize if I’ve offended anyone. The post was meant to be anti-racist with humour. I now understand that (...)
Mario Balotelli

So Mario puts something up, realises it might be unwise and then removes it again of his volition? And he's going to 'investigated' for it?? This is getting to be such a silly, infantile culture. One bored bloke posts something utterly inconsequential on a social media site, and loads of other people, reading it out of boredom, complain even though he removes it soon enough, then masses of people who weren't even on the damned site turn it into a national talking point. The whole thing is utterly pathetic, and distracts our moral community from more serious things, such as pondering what other octogenerian entertainers might have been slightly too friendly at the Sooty Show roadshow in 1972, or whether a washed up journeyman footballer was too cruel to a washed up X Factor failure on a shite ITV jungle show. Grow up and get a fecking life!!

Super Mario also uses Magic Mushrooms to power up - I'm not sure we should be holding him up as some role model. Look at his eyes in that picture! Clearly on 'shrooms.

What's he done now?

Not much.

He tried some humour and someone else decided to be offended by it, 'cos you can feel morally superior that way.

Mario's only safe choices are to be silent and suppress his personality. It's a shame for him.

Wow.

Saw someone report this just after he posted it and thought it was a send-up. Anybody out there so thin-skinned as to be offended by that has some serious health issues and should be seeing a doctor - not reporting something so innocuous to the thought police.

Looking back on when I was growing up, the things being said and what was going on - it's a wonder the human race has survived at all.

Only the English FA could deem a picture which mocks racial stereotypes with the intent of breaking them down as Racist and Anti-Semitic.

It seems like this decade the human race is in full overcompensation mode for the sins of the past, it's so self defeating.

It's stunningly pathetic. They always go to the representative of whatever interest group seems most relevant. The representative won't pass up the chance to publicise his or her interest group, so he or she will demand that this incredibly important matter be discussed at length, then the hacks write columns about it, then Sky Sports will ask every manager to comment on it, then various chancers jump on board, then Martin Samuel will write a 'aren't we going a bit overboard' piece about it and he'll win a columnist of the year award.

Yep.

We'll soon be so "civilized" all our personal conversations will be delayed while a super-computer think-tank, located in a laboratory hidden deep in the earth, analyses each word in every known language, cross references it with pre-historic cultural fables before displaying it in text form - thus offending the millions for whom society couldn't be bothered providing an education.

They can fuck off, yeah its a crap joke but given that hes a black Italian with an adoptive jewish family its fair to say hes only trying to have some good natured fun. Besides the point of the message is clearly anti racist, even if its about as subtle as a hallmark card

He's pissed me off big time. I thought he was supposed to provide us with some entertainment with his many zany antics. Instead we get him cribbing 20 year old shit jokes and possibly getting banned for it. If you are going to get banned for posting something on instagram at least do it right. A photoshopped picture of Gary Linekar, Sepp Blatter and Arsene Wenger all involved in a group transgender midget orgy might do it. He could add Luis Suarez in the background chomping on a mince pie to keep it festive.

In these cases I think it is rival fans who fake outrage knowing it can derail that player.. If a United player posted something similar im sure loads of LFC, Arsenal, City fans would cause uproar knowing the FA respond to all things like it.

Very poor though. The joke is so old. It is even from pre Lad Bible days so they shouldn't even be putting their name to it!

It's only a whimsical notion
To charge poor old Rio tonight,
And I probably won't ban poor old Rio,
But, then again, I just might.

3, what was Rio's tweet? Wasn't he saying he'd beat someone up or something?

Edit - Nevermind, he called someone a naughty word, one I've never heard of before.
I think he called Ashley Cole, white chocolate or something.

Former FA executive and current chief executive of the Jewish Leadership Council Simon Johnson said Balotelli should face action.
"We abhor all forms of racism, wherever it is found," Johnson told the Daily Telegraph. "We call upon the FA to investigate this offensive social media post and to take action if appropriate if we are to succeed in kicking racism out of football."

Isn't it ironic when religion preach mercy, compassion and forgiveness - yet the Jewish council, of all people - doesn't show any mercy ?

It's like what Christ once said, "He who is without sin, can cast the first stone first". Incidentally, it was the Jewish religious teachers of his day that He opposed most.

One innocent, harmless tweet and they want to stone Mario like he some kinda rapist.

In poor taste perhaps, but innocent enough - especially if you consider context.

Not a good idea to let unsophisticated young men representing your club free reign on social media though. Either give them proper media training or vet every post.
