hahaha, yes most asians are short in comparison to caucasians but i think it is due to nutrition. have you seen yau ming, the american NBA basketball player? he is taller than shaq! most of asia used to be poor, so we were under nourished. now the average height of youths are 5' 9" and that is about the same with you lot, right?

nothing to do with smoking ross

You say people were under nourished what has changed now ?

i think as asia progress and become more developed, the diet changes to higher protein. poor people cannot simply afford meat, but now more asians are coming out of the poverty line, their diet changes from vegetables/starch to food with more protein contents.

differenet part of asia eats different stuff. for carbohydrate south asia/tropical tends to be rice based. north asia more wheat based (and they are taller). Vegetable is vegetable and these are the staple diet with little or no meat, depending on economic condition. that is why we asian eat all kind of animals. now we consume proper meat with a vengence. 🙂

yes mate. lets compare fish & chips. how much do you pay for a take-away? we pay less than 2 pounds sterling in a reasonably posh cafe for it.

MacDonalds? Big Mac cost less than a pound here. How much do you pay?

Can't really do a currency conversion tho,Y1.

A Big Mac there costs the same as it does here; except because its in sterling or Euro, it seems like it's a lot cheaper here.

True avvy, but there is this thing call big mac cost of living index. However, by coverting it to pound sterling, it will give our frens over there how cheap it is for them even though it is not that cheap for us.

not sure it is liked because of name. we flock to places that give good deals. it has a fight on hand with French Carrefoure and a local mart called Giant and Japanese Jusco

not the cheapest. there are cheaper and better quality ones

*er better rename this thread 'all about food'*

fresh milk is not very common here but full cream pasteurised milk is about 50 or 60p for 1 litre (dunno pint). a loaf of plain bread is 40p max

imported fruits are expensive eg apples and oranges are about 35p each

local bananas are 20p for a bunch of 10 (and that is cheap)

How hot is cili padi ?

Courtesy of The Wik :

The hottest form is the Bird's Eye Chili Pepper, which is also known as Chili padi (Malay: cili padi), phrik khii nuu (พริกขี้หนู, literally "mouse shit chili&quot😉, Thai Hot, Thai Dragon (due to its resemblance to claws), Siling Labuyo(Filipino), Ladâ, and Boonie pepper (the Anglicized name).

These tiny little fiery chilis point downward from the plant and their colors change directly from green to red. This type of chili can be found in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines but most commonly in Thailand. Although small in size compared to other types of chili, the chili padi is relatively strong at 50,000 to 100,000 on the Scoville pungency scale. Malaysia consumes about RM140 million worth of chilies each year.[
