I don't really want to see Gerrard in centre mid, because I don't think he's got the licence to do what he does best, at least in Rafa's system anyway, but that shouldn't explain why he was fucking up routine passes. Just put it down to a bad day at the office, all round.

gerrard's been in and out of the side due to injury and hasn't had an extended run with torres all season, its making excuses but they are valid excuses. the bottom line is there is no one at the club who is a better forward than gerrard, kuyt is headless there and yossi doesn't release the ball fast enough.

I meant pre Torres but yes, still. Any midfielder who can score 20+ goals a season and get 20+ assists is right up there with the best in the world for me.
