Danny Mills

Definitely doesn't like us much. Did we turn him down for a move or some such? He obv.didn't catch the interview with Klopp just after he arrived, in which he said that once he was aware of Liverpool's interest he wasn't going to any other club. Either that or he's pretending he didn't catch it. Pillock.

We have had mostly shit managers who have brought weak (mentally) players.

The times we have got it right with signings/trophies have been under Houllier and Rafa.

Given time and money I expect JK to do the same.
Benitez, Hodgson, Dalglish, Rodgers, and Klopp. That's the last 10 years of managers. The only outright "shit" manager in there is Hodgson.

I agree we have bought som mentally weak players, but we've bought a lot of players that only revealed that frailty upon coming here.

The season before we bought Lallana and Lovren, they were excellent. Most teams in the league would have been glad to have them and been better for it. We should have been on that list.

They come to us and have a shaky start. But it'll be OK, they just have to settle. Next thing you know it's been a year and a half and maybe Lovren is coming back to something approaching decent and Lallana looks a good (but ineffective) player.

Players that are an integral part of a team when we buy them show up here and look OK but need someone else to really run the show. No one is willing to drive the team. It seems all 11 players think it's someone else's job to make things work.

When the service has been right today, he's miscontrolled the ball.
Yeah and that's when he annoys me.

He's a good albeit limited CF but needs the right service, much like Carroll had today.

Having said that, his movement is dreadful. It's not that he doesn't move, he's actually trying, it just he's making the wrong runs. Going in behind when he should come short. And coming short, when he should run in behind.

For much of the time those managers have had to cope with weak and dysfunctional off-field club admins though. Rafa had to contend first with Parry's slowness and interfering over transfers (before he himself went off the rails after Pako left) and then the two cowboys. The King was a brill caretaker but shouldn't have been given the permanent gig. Rodgers is a decent manager but was in over his head with the LFC job. Who made all those appointments? THAT's where the roots of our problems have been, down through the years. Hopefully the difference with Klopp will be that he's a good enough manager and a strong enough individual to override the mistakes made elsewhere behind the scenes. Fingers and everything else crossed.

I'm with you. I hope against hope this works out. And I am sure that Klopp have at a minimum the rest of this season and all of next to make an impact. I just worry it's going to be a repeat of the same scenario. In three years we'll be talking about how Klopp had to contend with the transfer committee or some other obstacle and it just never worked.

I guess my thought is I'm tired of it not working. I want someone to just make it work in spite of the obstacles, not be given them as a crutch when it didn't work out.

That probably isn't fair at all to the managers in question but it's just how I feel.

We just don't know how to break teams down

We play like we are playing against World Class Level on the new edition of Fifa for the first time, each time we play..

Klopp was a slow burner at Frieburg and Dortmund so I wasn't expecting anything this season really.
We had a false dawn in November and that's why these results hurt so much.
If Klopp is given time I'm convinced he can make it work but it won't be long until people start getting impatient which is a shame but fully expected these days.

He needs time..

Plenty of it.

It will take a fair few seasons to clean up this mess thats for sure

If the players believe they are skilled enough that can use 7-10 touches each on the ball, they should really try to use that skill to release the ball on first touch. It is like fucking watching a game on FIFA were every player is there to look Down and dribble.
