No. The second pen.was a ridiculous decision but we've made more than enough of our own mistakes apart from that.

That second penalty was absurd. Skrtel just went to kick the ball completely unaware that Long was coming in behind him. Awful, awful decision.
As for the game overall, I don't think we can have too many complaints. It was lost when Agger pushed Long in the back and gave away a pen. Plus we were already 1 nil down.
Not good enough in possession, too many misplaced passes, not enough penetration in the final third, woeful finishing and defensive errors. This game certainly wouldn't have looked out of place last season.
Downing needs to drop to the bench. He's awful.
Gerrard needs to sort himself out. He was pretty poor today.
Suarez should be forced to stay behind every day for extra shooting practice.

The one good thing to come out of this match is that it's reaffirmed how much I truly despise Stuart Downing.

I think we need it. The midfield was dysfunctional. The defence was out of sorts. And the Borini / Downing thing didn't work either.
