Dont really care about his crossing stats tbh. I want him to score goals or cross it from the byline where its much harder to defend against.

He is so defensive when it comes to taking players on and creating chances.
Borini had the best cross/pass anyhoo, a chance Luis should have scored.

Luis looks to hotheaded and wants it to much, needs to drop his shoulders and be a bit calmer infront of goal. If he knew that someone else could score aswell it would probably help.

Unbelievably we had an 88.87% pass completion. In the previous 4 seasons, stretching 152 games we haven’t bettered that!

A caveat attached to that pass completion. Only 32% of those passes were forward. Lowest amount forward in a game last 2 yrs

Final third passing accuracy today was 81.69%. Our highest rate in a game in the last 4 yrs is 77.94% V City away last yr.

"A caveat"!!! Some fucking caveat!

They're both penalties, lads. The 2nd one maybe even moreso than the first one... Skittles doesn't have to be trying to end his career as he swings that leg - It was very reminiscent of Sami conceeding one against Chelsea in Europe a few years back. Attacker nabs the ball as he starts his 'swing', swing clips attacker, attacker goes down, penalty. We'd all be going spare if they weren't given in our favour, were the circumstances reversed.

Where Dowd had me pulling my hair out today was with the inconsistencies with the cards... Ollsen could do anything to anybody, and he's fine. But Lucas and Carroll get booked for little or nothing. In fact, at least twice Ollsen committed far more cynical fouls than either Lucas or Carroll did, and still escaped a booking, when technically, he should have had two, imho. And the Suarez card was a joke.

But Dowd is 0% of the reason we lost. The fact that he's a horribel cunt is complete irrelevant to that discussion.

Yep.

I have always considered Dowd to be one of the better Premier League refs and I was surprised by his award of the first penalty and sending-off of Agger. To me it was minimal contact and followed the accepted principle of a centre-back using his strength to deal with an attacker.

At the start of a new season, one often sees referees making what appear to be strange decisions, and I wonder whether the FA gives them a pre-season pep talk targeting some particular aspect that they want referees to address. Watching "Match of the Day" it did appear as if the referees were clamping down on the kind of pushing and barging that centre-backs are normally allowed to get away with.

It is one of their targets to eradicate the difference between a free kick offence outside ethe area but ok in the area. That includes attackers holding defenders too. IF it's consistent it'll be a good thing. IF.

Like the one on Borini?

How that wasn't given I will never know. I agree Dowd is generally one of the better ones, but his decision were off.

He isn't the reason we lost. Lack of balance with Johnson on the left. Suarez missing a few. Downing being himself. Then there was Gerrard. I don't think even he know's where he is meant to be playing.

Stewart Downing's forward pass% 😱

Well it's pretty difficult to pass forwards if you are the foremost player 😉 Unless crossing into the stands counts.

And why is Cole's 50% back passes stat considred the best and Skrtel's 3% back passes the worst 😱

Or SG's 6 crosses with not one 'accurate' not considered the worst (because zero completions are not shown and have a 'dash' instead) ? Weird table TBH (I know you didn't compile it Binny).
