So, we are looking to move Sturridge on.
Makes sense. However, that leaves us with Solanke(an English N'Gog) and Ings as our strikers behind Firmino...

This is like that time when we absolutely had to buy a striker and a defender and goalkeeper and a central midfielder to have any hope at all of making the top four and Klopp was a fucking idiot for not seeing the obvious and then we got lucky and made the top four anyway and now the club is full of know nothing cunts again and everything is shit and we just lost a game and don't dare mention that we won the previous four 'cos that's rose tinted can do no wrong kinda thinking that has no place in the mind of a football fan and if we just spent 70 million quid on this guy named Fekir that I heard about last month and have never seen then we would be ok and why can't the idiots running the club see what we all seeeeeeeee????!!!

I had these discussions when we were top of the league last Xmas, and said we'd need some or all of those additions in order to maintain that position.

We didn't, and therefore scraped fourth and won nothing.

It would appear that finishing fourth and winning nothing is once again the sum of our realistic ambitions because we only bought a defender a few weeks ago, have also sold one of our best players and not replaced him, and have once again deigned to ignore the other obvious, glaring gaps in our squad, apart from addressing the admittedly crucial issue of a reliable 20 plus goal-scorer. For which Klopp does merit acknowledgement, even if it was fucking obvious that we needed one.

It's most frustrating, I agree

As I said a couple of weeks ago though (& repeated since) Klopp seems to be able to prioritise long term team building over short term trophy hunting. At some point everyone's patience with that will run out.

However if we do get fourth or better this season & go on to make similar improvements to the side in other areas then we will be in the hunt for trophies next season & possibly pushing for the league too.

There's a lot of ifs there, but that's the gamble Klopp is taking. It paid off in spades last season, whether it does again now, I'm not so sure.

What do we consider long-term?

I can't imagine anyone has any plans for the first team that extend beyond the next season or two.

I was worried that we'd end up having to rebuild again with Coutinho and others leaving but perhaps that was always going to be inevitable.

Next season is going to be the big one for Klopp. He'll finally have both of his main targets from last summer. He'll have to replace Coutinho as well as doing something about the other problem areas in the side.

I don't think trophies are a must but everyone will want to see progress.

To be honest, given where we've been in recent years, establishing ourselves as a solid CL team and trying to overtake Arsenal and Spurs properly will be pretty good going.

Exactly. Two years running in the CL sounds a lot more attractive to top players we want, & as much as us fans want a cup, that means much less.

The financial aspects are also huge, & may well shape what targets we can get.

I think we should get in the top four with what we have, but it could be close, & it'd be nice to strengthen to have a better chance.

I just think Klopp is too intransigent to settle for less than signing the exact players he wants for this side, & he won't switch targets unless he has no choice because they become unavailable.

I find it hard to be sure of anything with this team. It's really really tight and anything can happen really. The whole Coutinho situation has left us in the shit... if there is a deal that makes sense, it would definitely be worth doing to try and get us over the line.

It'd be interesting to know how much CL qualification is valued by Klopp and others at the club.

You are on top form tonight - yes we can all put trust in the manager's ability, but last night showed that we cannot really trust this squad - there is no X factor on the bench and to be honest - the people that are having ago at suggesting getting a replacement for Coutinho now - need to get off their high horse. We have seen this all too often now - you think we would have learnt from the Suarez shit but NO. We lost to a team that the other top 5 will NOT lose to away - I just cannot see them losing to Swansea away. Its really pathetic - we do need to sign someone - and I would not put faith in this team unless we actually WIN 10 of our remaining games.

It's a bigger gamble to not bring a player or two in than actually getting one or two and "gamble" on the signing (s) not working out. Take the fucking chance.

It'll be beyond belief if we don't sign anyone.

All our bitch competitors above us and below us are going to buy with the money from their sales or just BUY. We sell and are 'promised' to use the funds for spending on new recruits but don't move. Can I just say that you lot are nuts if you think you will get players cheaper in the summer in a world cup year - you just won't - really you won't for as long as I have followed world cups that has never happened. It's just better to get someone now - oh for fucks sake put an 80M bid in for Mahrez - just get him !!!!

Looks like spurs signing Lucas....I really hope he performs like our Lucas. If he turns out well then I keep thinking what a shit Klopp and Co are .. I mean just 22M....thats two million more than the great Marko.
