Roy Hodgson reckons "Bobby Zamora should be in the England squad."

There are no typos in that sentence just in case it doesn't make sense to you.

He did offer some qualification though. Something about Heskey being big and powerful, but Zamora was more "technical".

I suppose if one had to choose a big galoot who doesn't score many goals, isn't very popular with fans, but is "valued by his team-mates and manager" you can see some kind of twisted logic in there somewhere

Hodgson will get away with it cos he's flavour of the month right now.

Can you imagine if Rafa had said something similar? He'd be sectioned.

Benitez doesn't really push players for their national sides in that way.

S'ture. He doesn't push individuals unless they super-desverve it either. I remember Ferguson was lauding Van Nistelrooy as the best striker in the World after the cunt's fucking debut. Takes *ages* for Rafa to even consider talking about Torres in the same way.

I also enjoyed how he claimed Foster would be England's next keeper, should deffo go to the World Cup, then dropped him, and demoted him to third-choice

My two favourites:

"I saw Kleberson in that World Cup, and I tell ye... He held that team togethor"
"Veron's fucking World Class, you'se are all stupid"

Coleman's performance was the best league* debut by a young players that I've seen in a long, long time.

* I notice he played 9 minutes previously against Bolton.

You should have seen him against Porto. Good Christ, it was horrible to watch.

I didn't see the game against Benfica but it was a bit of a baptism of fire being thrown in against an in-form Benfica team with Hibbert and Distin as your defensive "rocks" at CB. That could have been a one-off and so could yesterdays but he has to be a better option for them than Hibbert.
