We should have hired Laudrup

Spoken by the poster who spent all his time in the Rafa years, slagging off the manager had us in the CL, year after year. If Rodgers was successful, or Laudrup, I still think you'd have a few words of discontent!

Eh? Have you gone mad?

City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs.

Biggest outlay this transfer window. Of course there's a mountain to climb.

Just cos they didnt buy our best players doesnt mean we dont have some top class players, I think you know that Ross.

Skrtel & Agger would not look out of place in any of those club's sides at all, the fact they're here doesnt make them worse.

You're oversimplifying things again Ross. I don't know whether you do this purposely to get the most bang for your buck reaction-wise but I would've thought by now we'd have gotten past the sensationalist approach.

It's all well and good to say that managers don't matter and that all the players we have are useless but it's taking a very black and white view of things and respecting only part of the equation.

We have players that are rated for good reason. They are playing in a dysfunctional team and have been for a couple years. That doesn't necessarily make them bad. If Agger had've gone to City, played well and won the title, would that suddenly make him a different player to the one we're seeing at Liverpool now? Less overrated? No. Players, managers, teams and systems matter to varying degrees in different environments. Creating the right balance for our particular environment is the problem and Liverpool have been failing for some time.

As for selling anyone for a price, I wouldn't be averse to that if I had any faith in the management. Your approach relies on intelligent, innovative and strategic thinkers leading the club. We don't have those and we know this for a fact because if we did a) Comolli wouldn't have been appointed and fired within the space of a year, b) we'd have a stronger CEO and c) we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in now.

So in the reality we actually exist in, we need to be a little more pragmatic.
Bang on, as usual.

maybe we should have just promoted Clarke to manager !!

We should have brought the Swansea squad here with Rodgers. I mean for 100m we could have brought the entire club here.

How would we pay? Easy.

Our entire squad and management team could have had an 'accident' in a helicopter - like those navy seals who 'killed' bin Laden. Huge payroll burden gone - and there would be loads of insurance money in it too.

Brilliant. They could have crashed over the tiny fishing village of Bud. Gone but forgotten. Saved us all a lot of grief.

He took over Swansea in the summer and with a smaller budget than us and has them at the top end of the league. He doesn't appear to need time to lay down his philosophy and get the players playing the way they need to.

We on the other hand hired the up and coming football genius that Rodgers is and with a bigger budget have contrived to become worse. Why does Rodgers need time and Laudrup doesn't ?

How is that four managers on the trot now have appeared to turn shit while coaching us ?

Surely, the fact we have had 4 managers on the trot is a part of the reason for our results?

I haven't watched much of Swansea but aren't they more or less the same team they had last season and playing in the same manner? Laudrup is just tweaking what is there rather than changing everything.

We've had 3 different managers with different ideas, different ways of playing and different demands on our players. Not only that, each manager has reconstructed out central midfield plus we've had different first choice centre half partnership and strike force at the start of their tenures.

I agree a lot of our players aren't as good as we think are but changing our manager as often as we have is taking a toll on us.

You know Jon it's easier for someone to say the manager is fucked because his team are shite rather than the original poster going round the houses to make out he's got all the answers whilst presenting none and, at the same time, referring to those who's opinion may have the temerity to differ from his as being moronic cunts. It's fucking lame.

Laudrup took over a side that Rodgers had the time to shape into 'his' side, he's reaping the rewards of the style that Rodger instilled in the club. Rodgers just took over a side with confidence that's been twatted all over the show for the last three years (and as recently as two days ago).

Well done for missing the wood, again. So Rodgers has turned to shit after three games?

You're missing the wood Mark. Rodgers is irrelevant.

What is important is the players. And I constantly read about how good they are, but never actually see it myself. A large section of the fanbase is a bit deluded.

Funny that you consider coach is irrelevant. We basically have the same defence as last year. We were third in the league and conceded 40 in 38 matches. Now we conceded 7 in 3 matches. Small samples and different opponents of course but everybody can see we have different approach under Rodgers.

Then on offence I don't even know how can you compare the team with last year. Last years attackers have all been sold/loaned/ relegated to bench except Suarez and Gerrard. Then how can you make the conclusion that coach doesn't matter when they're two different teams?

You missed my point.

Those club's have the best players. Cos they spent the most money.

We don't, cos we didn't. That doesn't mean we have shite players, but that Rodgers has to work twice as hard to get results.

If he has to battle fans also its another fight, we should be behind him, nothing less, too many people are ready to have a go.

I think we have a very good manager, and those of you who like young fresh players - well on the basis of all the reports from all the players he has worked with - there has been consistent praise. Its our players who are the issue, they just need to improve and sort their heads out. What Laudrup has found is a team who already know how to pass the ball, and he has added a bit of more directness to their play and thats why they are able to score more goals this season if you compare to last season. But also he has bought that player for 2M (mishu I think ? - sorry for spelling) who looks like a very good goal scoring midfielder.

I was taking the mick cos I tried to make a real debate of it mate, Ross declined though.

Ross is right about our players. In recent seasons they've played out of their skins and they're still not up to it.

Is correct.
