Within the sound of some bells. Or something I believe.
St. Mary-Le-Bow Church. If you are born within hearing distance of the "Bow Bells" yer a cockney.
I always thought that was a very unscientific measurement. Anyways, I bet this church not only had a much greater unfettered aural field years ago, but also benefited from more vigorous, stronger, god fearing campanologists back in the day.
Also depending on the time of year, sound waves travel further in warm air - what if yer born in winter and can't hear the Bow Bells from where yer born but during the Summer you can?
noone at all lives round there and its very noisy
This confused me - why is it noisy if no one lives around there?

Because a hell of a lot of people work round there. Its right in the middle of The City.
Why did you spell the city with caps? Always confuses me when people do that, like somehow London's city centre needs a separately defined area of it's own for wankers, sorry, bankers, to work in.

Because it is known as 'the City'. It is the name for London's financial district (which overlaps somewhat with the original medieval walled city of London).

Yep, I always thought it was in Capitals as "The City Of London" is a small district in the centre of London.

I already used the obvious, "Here's to you Jackie Robinson, Anfield loves you more than you will know" in the match thread.

Its the name of the area - The City of London. Its a bit odd in some ways in that it has a separate local government structure and practice, police force, licensing laws etc.

The most famous areas of Greater London are probably in the city of Westminster rather than in the City of London
