Apperantly Hummels has a release clause in his contract that can be activated if anyone bids 8 mill euros.
If thats true, it's a no brainer.

thats going to be abused by someone in the summer.

Just checked this out on the official FIFA website.
Apparantly this is an internet rumour.
We DO NOT have to buy Gary Cahill.
So relax.

this is not my translation...

"The first five, six teams in the league proved what they can do. It's a fact that Bayern will be better in the second half and that must be clear to all, but we are not afraid"

"Even if I had a clause which meant they could sign me back for just two euros, I don't want to leave," he told the Bild newspaper. "I would rather stay with Dortmund."

That's no translation of the article though.

The article says that Hummels has a buy-out clause in his contract which allows him to leave for € 8m in 2012 to Bayern Munich. Dortmund want to 'buy the buy-out clause' from Hummels for € 2m and to extend his contract.

Hummel looks very much Bayern-bound.

Every half decent German-player in the Bundesliga are Bayern-bound actually. That's more or less always been the case in the Bundesliga.

I think the relationship between Hummels and Bayern went very sour when they didn't trust him and let him go. I'd be a bit surprised if he went back there to be honest.

You could well be right mate. I was talking in more general terms as it's normally the case in Germany that Bayern runs away with the biggest talents in their league at some point.

That's why it's so fun to see them not win the Bundesliga once in a while.

It's not over yet. Knowing those fuckers' luck they might still win it.

Dortmund are too consistently good to mess up a 13 point lead but in football you just never know.

Klopp's boys are great to watch. Exciting young crop of talent.

I was privileged enough to see them live when they shat on City
and of all the players Subotic and Kagawa really stood out

We get ace Bundesliga games on a Friday and Klopp has been nothing but impessive. He has a young team that plays exciting football.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger set to bid for Bolton's Gary Cahill as Thomas Vermaelen is out until next season - report
20 Mar 2011 14:45:00

Arsenal will reportedly speed up their hunt to recruit Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill to replace Thomas Vermaelen, ruled out of action at least until the start of the next Premier League
campaign.

According to News of the World, the 25-year-old Belgian has visited specialists in Holland for the past week in a bid to try and nurse the Achilles problem which first arose in September.

The likes of Laurent Koscielny, Sebastien Squillaci and Johan Djourou have had mixed fortunes this season and Wenger is determined to reinforce his back-five for the next Premier League campaign.

The Gunners boss reportedly found the £15million price tag for Cahill too high but is having second thoughts as suitors such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have emerged.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle already has Reading centre back Matt Mills on his radar for a £3 million fee, to fill Cahill’s place should he leave.

I want Gary Cahill in the summer. Villa sold him for 6-8million and tried to replace him with Curtis Davis? Or who was it?

I still hope that Skrtel has got a future with us. Our defence has looked pretty good under Kenny, all we need is a quality LB/DM and we'll be sorted in this area of the pitch.

"Manchester United also want to shore up their defence by bringing Gary Cahill in from Bolton Wanderers and won't, it says here, be deterred by the Trotters' £25m asking price."

wrong thread mate ... or is it a whooooosh?

After watching Agger yesterday and noting the difference he makes to our play when on the pitch, does it not make more sense to buy a ball playing CB who can fit in when Agger isn't there?

Yep, a whooooosh, that's exactly what it is *cough*.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich have fired the starting gun for a scramble to sign £18million-rated England defender Gary Cahill after making a personal check on his form at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle’s recent admission that Cahill ‘will outgrow this club and will go with my blessing’ sent out a signal to the centre-back’s elite list of admirers, and Arsenal and Bayern were first to react by sending scouts to watch another commanding performance in a last-gasp 1-0 win for Manchester United.

Coyle’s frank assessment is being widely interpreted as a sign that, with Cahill nearing the final year of his contract and establishing himself in the England squad, he will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.

There will be no shortage of takers, with Bayern desperate for a top-class centre-back and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in receipt of scouting reports urging him to turn to the 25-year old to shore up a suspect defence.

Bolton may struggle to realise their £18m asking price but should go close, given the level of interest. United have been closely monitoring his progress, Liverpool are keen and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp declared his admiration for the former Aston Villa defender’s composure and eye for goal last year.

Jupp Heynckes is about to leave Bayer Leverkusen to replace the outgoing Louis Van Gaal at Bayern and has told Allianz Arena chiefs to go all out to win the race for Cahill.

Defensive failings have cost the Bundesliga giants dear this season, with a Champions’ League place looking tantalisingly out of reach, and Heynckes is determined to avoid any repeat in his first campaign in charge.

Van Gaal has paid the price for failing to shore up a rearguard that was chiefly to blame for Bayern’s failure to progress beyond the last 16 of this year's Champions League, following a 3-3 draw with Inter Milan.

Having sold Lucio to Inter and loaned Martin Demichelis to Malaga, following a fall-out with their Dutch coach, Bayern are short of experienced cover in the heart of their defence.

They are ready to try and persuade Cahill to make a fresh start abroad next season but face stern competition from some of the top names in the Barclays Premier League.
