We don't miss him

Do we ?

Three games, three wins, three goals from a clinical finisher.

What is to be gained by putting Suarez back in this team ?

Giving even more headaches to defenders ... and giving Coutinho more room and time ... Suarez instead of Aspas and we're money.

Take A-Spaz out and put Suarez in and we look even better.

Exactly.

We've gotten three wins, which is great but there is certainly room for improvement and a run of 1-nils isn't going to last forever. We need more goals and Suarez can supply them (even if he is so embarrassingly poor it takes him a 100 shots to get 1).

Did we dominate in the last two games? No?
Did we have an outlet in the second half when we were on the back foot and couldn't create anything as a team? No?
Did you ask the same question after every win Suarez was involved in last season? No?
There's your answer(s).

The wins are pretty narrow, which surely leaves room for improvement. Weve done brilliantly though.

Yeah, we don't need a World Class player in that team, nor his goals. Not to mention putting teams on the back foot with his movement which is something that was totally lacking today. Or giving more space to Couts or Sturridge to operate. You biff.

I do think we miss him.

Sturridge ran the show on his own up front and was knackered in the 2nd half.

Suarez beside him would give us much more relieve because of his ability to hold up the ball.

Sadly Aspas is muck right now. I hope it gets better; I have my doubts though.

We aren't scoring enough yet, so bringing back our top scorer from last season should help.

It seems at the moment that our tactics are working very well in games. There will be times when they don't, and then we will need someone like Suarez who can conjure something up out of nothing.

Shanks always said ' if you miss 9 out of 10 in a game, but get more than 10 chances, that's good enough to play for me '

We need him..

He will keep the ball at the other end of the pitch..

Suarez is work horse.. We miss his presence to help kill games off

He's better than aspaz, works harder, creates more, causes more problems for the opposition, scores goals. I'm not sure what part of that swap isn't obvious.

We haven't missed him so far, a lot of the times I think we play better football without him but what are we supposed to do? Go into the season with Sturridge, Borini and Aspas?

It's probably too late to sell Suarez and get a top replacement that won't leave the fans disappointed, it'd be a mistake to sell a striker and not replace until January like last year and it'd be a mistake to rush into a replacement like when we sold Torres. He shouldn't be allowed to walk straight back into the starting 11 given how well we've done, also the message should be that Sturridge is the main man.

Those are games we lose with Suarez up front.

Because he's better in every way than aspas so logic was say that replacing aspas with a better player will make us a better team. Plus its nice to have another match winner in the team.

The bit you're missing is the impact it has on the rest of the team.

That isn't logic.

That's fantasy football.

We were winning games towards the end of last season with Downing in the team.
We don't miss him.

You who someone that advocates what small a difference the manager/coach should know full well that you want as many of your best players on the pitch as you can get. He's one of, if not our best player, so having him on the pitch is a no-brainer. He might be a bit mental, but he's a brilliant footballer, and a grafter. He should be and will be rightfully part of the front 4 of Strurridge, him, Coutinho and Moses that it looks like we'll be starting shortly.
The impact he has on his team mates is positive, he gives them options, they know how good he is and how much the opposition hate him

I'm going to regret this...

Suarez is better in every aspect, so far from what we can tell, than Aspas. He has a better touch, better vision, better skill, better pass, quicker, stronger, works harder, more experience etc etc...

I know you don't watch the games, Ross, and you prefer to experience games through statistics on an excel spreadsheet, but it's clear we would be a stronger outfit with Suarez in the 11.

I'm done.

From a well known United Forum

Liverpool are starting to worry me, solid defensively and getting those crucial goals. What happens when Suarez returns? Thought Liverpool were the better team marginally 1st half, but then its hard to be worse than Uniteds first half. Second half United were the better team, the correct, paper result would have been a draw!

This team will go fromm strength to strength when he is back in the team...

8 games into his ban we have won 7 and drawn 1, admittedly its not a huge sample size and it runs contrary to the established logic that we are a one man team who would be useless without Suarez. We have 2 more games before he comes back, if we win both of those then he will have to wait for his chance. Fortunately for us his first game back will be a league cup game at Old Trafford so he will almost certainly start in a somewhat weakened side
