They are both exactly the same age!

Birthday is on 22/06/1993.

If Karius was bought to challenge Mignolet for No 1 spot surely Ward should be considered as well.

Are we better off starting Ward as No 1 next season he certainly seems to command his area a lot better at set pieces.

Ming all the way. Karius was poor when he had his chance, Ward would do well on loan again for a now prem team and Ming has turned it around big time the last few months.
I'm far from Mings biggest fan, but on recent form he's been one of the best keepers in the league. Let him start next season with Karius breathing down his neck and see if he can keep it up. I hope he can

You mean Ward and Karius right? Ming looks about 15 mind you.

Disturbingly, if Ming piled on the pounds he'd resemble James Corden (particularly if, as planned, I break Corden's hooter when I smash him in the face).

There is no point bringing Ward back to rot on the bench as second / third choice keeper.

We'd do well, if possible, to let him go to a Prem team and see how he fares.

I'd like to see him stay at Huddersfield. He'll certainly get the practice and we get to see him in action against PL teams of all standards.

How many goals did Ward concede this year ?
52 Goals in 43 games. 11 clean sheets.

Karius let in 12 goals in 10 games with 3 clean sheets.

So, oddly enough, not only do they share birthdays, they share similar stats - conceding 1.2 goals per game (or 6 goals every 5 games), and keeping a clean sheet every 3 to 4 games.

When was the last time a premiership goalkeeper was loaned out to another premiership club and he became the No. 1 there?

A premiership club is only granted 2 premiership loans and history would tell us that they are never wasted on a goalkeeper.

The last one that I can remember is Ben Foster. Had to check that in Wiki to confirm whether he did go on loan from Man United, to whom, and when. Turns out he was on loan to Watford in 05/06 when they won the playoff finals, and continued his loan spell there in 06/07 in the Premier League as the Watford no. 1.

Huddersfield have already said they want to keep him for next season if we are willing.

I have my doubts. They are losing 2 guys from chelsea and 1 guy from city and those guys are barely even good enough. If they dont strengthen massively they will be relegated. That 2 loan spots are crucial.

I think we should sell Mignolet and have Ward & Karius compete for the No 1.

At the age of 23 they should be able to hold there own Courtois was 22 when he came back to Chelsea, De Gea was 20 at the start of his first season with Utd, the keeper City have just signed is 23.

Then look at the likes of Butland & Hart who were both No 1 at an earlier age.

I think Carl has been drinking.

I dunno, I'm not ready to write Karius off yet.

I've always given keepers way too much latitude, but I think letting him go now would be a mistake. He doesn't deserve the number one slot thanks to Mignolet's performances last season, but I'd keep him to throw in when Mignolet inevitably has a breakdown again next season.

Why not give Ward a go I admit I have not seen much of him, he looked fairly commanding in the play-off had a decent season at Huddersfield and was excellent at Aberdeen.
If the plan is to retain Karius (some rumors he will start as No 1 with Mignolet as back-up), can't see Ward wanting to hang around.
