Koeman speaking to Dutch television:

When you bring in Van Gaal you bring in quality but you also bring in someone who thinks he knows everything and that will cause clashes. When you have Van Gaal in charge, it is a fact that there is fear in his team and that is not always good.

I was his assistant at Barcelona after the World Cup in 1998 and I learned a lot of things from him, but there is a big difference between him and me as managers. The way he handles his players is totally different. I don’t put as much pressure on the shoulders of my players.

After Van Gaal coached the Dutch national team at the World Cup, the Dutch federation had to bring in a manager who would bring in a softer touch. The players needed an arm around their shoulder, someone calmer.” Koeman is referencing his time as Van Gaal’s assistant at Barcelona in the late 90’s, where the two helped lead the club to the La Liga title in 1999.

Apparently some Dutch guy on the board of directors at Swansea is going to be investigated by the Dutch FA for calling van Gaal an arrogant b@stard on Dutch TV. Leaving aside Dutch football people's endless ability to fall out with each other anyway, are there any of them who actually like van Gaal? 😀

Two interesting articles which put some more meat on the bones of a possibility I've raised on here before, namely: have the Mancs signed van Gaal after he's passed his best?

Here's hoping. 😎

Despite them being in the top four and throwing a load of cash at the team as always, there does seem to be a vulnerability to them as a club, not just on the pitch. The arrogance of the Ferguson days has evaporated completely. They look a bit rudderless. I hope it stays that way and they continue to struggle to gel and find the right players. It truly was the end of an era when he left and let's hope the higher-ups at the club continue to make poor decisions and pile up the debt. Another season out of the CL would be a start. I dearly hope they finish 5th with us above them.

I read somewhere (probably here, too lazy to check) that although the higher ups have lost faith in him, they're extremely reluctant to sack him because of the view it would create of the club.

Happy days I say. Let the fucking thing burn to the ground.

I was chatting to a hack recently who has to cover that region and so goes to all the pressers, and he says it feels like a classic emperor's new clothes scenario. Each week they go in there, thinking as he talks, 'This is rubbish,' and then think, 'But...But...it's Louis Van Gaal,' and then go off feeling too unnerved to tell it like it is. But they're getting closer and closer to snapping. Which should be good fun to watch.

the truth is his never take so Long to adjust to his style. The only Thing they are surviving on is their mentality, which is very hardly drilled into Players by LVG. That is the only Thing which makes me think that finishing in top 4 is not so easy. Otherwise overtaking them with this dumb style and Performance should be like a cakewalk.

Btw, what the fuck does Giggs actually do?

There have been rumours of a falling out between himself and Giggs which is funny because Giggs seems like a complete personality vacuum yes man. Id say VanGaal is disgusted at having to groom somebody else to take his job in 2 years time, if he lasts that long, but he cant get rid of him because the fans would instantly turn on him if he stabbed their most decorated player in the back.

He will get another season at least, which I dont mind because hes treading water, his best days are long behind him, as Jonathon Wilsons article points out its widely believed the only reason hes still managing is because his finances were wiped out a few years back when the market crashed. He is absolutely guaranteed to have a complete meltdown at some point next season because there is no way he is winning the league with that team
