"The Law of Murphy". It sounds like a crap Hollywood movie, starring Colin Farrell as a hard-drinking Boston cop, distracted by complications regarding visitation rights following the collapse of his marriage and the loss of contact with his 8 year old son. When a notorious drug baron, Van Gaal (Steven Berkoff), kills Murphy's ex-cop father-in-law, O'Callaghan (Martin Sheen), the troubled maverick is plunged into a complex and dangerous case that could lead to salvation or, just as easily, death.

We could just tweak the plot summary for the film Pride and Glory or make a sequel.
*Rings Hollywood*

Ray Tierney (Edward Norton) comes from a family full of New York cops, including his father (Jon Voight), brother Francis (Noah Emmerich) and bad-boy brother-in-law Jimmy (Colin Farrell). When a failed drug bust results in the deaths of four of Francis' men, the Tierney patriarch pulls Ray into leading the investigation. But Jimmy launches his own investigation, compromising Ray's team. Jimmy's actions soon catch Ray between duty as a police officer and loyalty to his family.

Why do sequels never live up to the original ? *disappointed at having wasted my money*
