yossi.

he was fucking class last night and it's been coming for a while. with insua overlapping he's gonna be devastating, this season. what an absolute bargain.

It baffles me when I see the guy put in consistent top class performances, and you get same folk on here come on and say "ah, but he's still not good enough to be a starter". The man is a top class footballer. After Gerrard and Torres, he's clearly the most talented.

He still has the infuriating habit of falling in love with the ball from time to time but that gripe aside, he's turned out to be a cracking buy. Hopefully he can weigh in with a few goals again this season.

on a side note; how on earth is babel still in the dutch squad?

"Potential"?

Spider-Neil = Marco Van Basten?

i think a premierleague club would take babel on loan and that's what i'd do. he doesn't have a chance, as things stand.

Nah. Spider-Neil = Lambertus van Marwijk.

He is very fond of a extra touch or two. What is he great at is carrying the ball in open space which often takes him to a dangerous position high up the pitch.

I think that would be the ideal situation as it would give him games and maybe put some passion back into his play, or at least put him in the shop window. Doubt it will happen though as Rafa will probably keep him in order to have an impact sub as we don't have much else in that area at the minute.

He was definitely written off premature by a majority of fans - "Luis Garcia without the goals" etc, -but he was a fine player for West Ham so I was left bemused by his inability to perform for Liverpool. Thankfully he's sorted himself and has been in blinding form recently

Leave Yossi out at your peril, Rafa.

uh-oh rumbled!!!

so guys, what did you think of my famous volley?

yossi needs to release the ball earlier simple as that. rafa is a world class coach right? why doesn't he point out players obvious flaws?

I like Benayoun, I thought most did? Not on the left wing tho, couldn't care less what he did against Stoke, its behind the striker or nothing. Gerrard in midfield.

If only we had you to coach the players, Spidey, I bet Rafa never points out players' flaws....erm, except we know from every player that that's pretty much what Rafa does all the fucking time.

An additional question related to benny?

Can he have a similar effect to what McAllister had with us, does he have any similarities to McAllister in his effectiveness on the pitch, the unglamorous grafter, etc. etc. I realise as footballers that they are nothing alike, but i do wonder whether he brings a similar attitude and effect on the team!

I know you did not but i was hoping to bait an amusing reaction from skully

I thought Yossi got lots of praise last season (rightly so). Not sure why he is after a poor first half and goodish 2nd half vs Stoke.

I don't think he is underra...thingy.

As people have pointed out, the frustrating thing with him is that he sometimes hangs on to the ball too long.

Which is especially frustrating considering he's got a pretty good eye for a pass and scores some nice goals

A year ago pretty much the entire forum was gleefully dancing along to Brendan's Casper the Israeli Ghost tune and now we've gone to the other extreme.

Everyone is certainly doing their part to make the best of things. Lucas is going to become great, Yossi after two decent, but not great performances has become world class and Babel... heh, well.. it stops there.
