Trent, Salah and VVD

The last 4 or 5 didn't get to within the last 6 months before signing an extension.

That's the difference.

I still think he's more likely to be off than not.

The thing is Trent is so extremely positive about Slot, his tactics, coaching methods and way of seeing the game. He says its perfect for him.

Kinda still feels like he’ll sign.

"You know change is coming," the right-back tells Sky Sports News of the conversation he was having with himself. "But how big is it going to be?

"You don't anticipate what to expect, because when you don't know someone and you haven't really seen much of their work - if I'm being honest - it's unfair and it's hard to base your opinions on that.

"But the level of detail he has… I find myself smiling about it because that's the kind of thing that I really enjoy. It's just football in like a very, very in-depth level.

"I could tell from the first time I met him that I was going to enjoy playing under him and being a part of this. I'm feeling like I'm going to get better and improve and learn so much in such a short space of time and just keep on learning, because I could tell he was football obsessed and the level of detail was incredible."

In fairness, that's what United are paying Casimero each week to plod around the pitch as a shadow of the player and Rashford even more.

As much as it'll make FSG whince it's probably his value given the contract status. Ideally there's some compromise.

United have fucking ruined themselves paying way too much to their players. They are a benchmark, but of what not to do.

I think if Trent gets this contract, he's not any more motivated. I think he should leave, for him. I think he will accept being a normal right back in some grand other team, but not to the same degree in this one, partially because he's already seen the highest heights here.

They are, but the final point is key one. We’re competing with clubs that could sign Trent on a free, which will ultimately determine his wage value. United didn’t face those same pressures and still secured their players, including paying a transfer fee in Casemiro’s case.

We've already been the example of what not do do by letting it reach runs point, meaning the club simply needs to decide if it’s worth it. I completely agree on the last point.

Its shit, by the way. He's the best talent we've produced in ages. I think if we kept the party going a little longer he wouldn't be thinking of going.

There's a reason that even though real Madrid aren't that great a team right now, we assume they'll be more successful than us. That's fucked up, and I know the league circumstances are different, but the message to a young and naive Trent was throw yourself into this entirely and you will be rewarded richly, and he did, and he was. Then the owners were like, nice. Cool. This'll do.

I don't think he will ever be a midfielder. He's had a go at it too, and it's been a failure. I don't think he'll ever be as good a right back as he was on a system that was made for him with young legs.

I don't see how he matures here. I actually don't know what he will become anywhere, but I hope he figures it out, because he can do some things others can't. It's just now he only wants to do those things, and that's not how it works.

He matures by understanding his role in this side as a right back. Hes made some improvements with this, as he's much better defensively now that he was. If he keeps progressing he could cement his place as our best ever RB, if not best PL RB ever. if he leaves to madrid he won't even be their best right back this century.

The hope is hes mature enough to realise that

I use United to make points but they are an outlier. They pay a "United" tax, they are incredibly stupid with transfers. Biggest spenders over 10 seasons any where. £55m for Mount. £50m for the French kid

Why are we so fucking poor tight ? Can someone explain that to me ?
As @Beamrider explained;
1) Owners will not put any investment in the club
2) We don't sell marquee players so there's never anyone leaving for £50m, the big players leave for free
3) We do pay big wages
4) If people like you subscribed LFCTV GO, like 1 million people, then the club could see an extra £50m quid base but you won't, so blame yourself

Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold:

“I heard about him talking about making a legacy. I don’t know if he meant in terms of at one single club or just as a player. I also don’t know if it’s true that he’s the one he’s most likely to leave, we don’t talk about contracts in here. I have to see the interview back.”

"He’s done well but I still see with him ups and downs, during games or in between games. His performances against City and Newcastle when he came in were incredible. But I don’t think he reached the same level against Fulham.”

“We are all trying to find a certain consistency in our performances. He has got better at this but still has room for improvement.”
