Transfer Rumours

Wait till the friendlies start and we get minute-by-minute accounts of how poor our new players perform, by depressive, defeatist a-holes .

Let's hope that BR gets it right and is smart about our transfer business or we'll find ourselves back in the mid table wilderness. Its underwhelming so far and lacks ambition in terms of what we brought in already but there's time yet.

Arsenal are making all the right moves, Citeh and the Chavs will be front runners. Scummers will spend big. Its going to be a dogfight.

Oh and the friendless are an exercise in fitness only. Don't read too much into it although I like the winning habit/mentality. Citeh lost to Amazulu in Durban last pre-season and won the Premiership. Dundee beat them this weekend too.

We saw great progress last season - but it will be left to see if that was based on what Suarez brought, or what Rodgers brought ... We'll learn this year if we've got the best young coach in footy, or .......

Tony Barrett of The Times tweeted: ‘Liverpool baffled by reports linking them with Marco Reus and insist they’ve shown no interest in him despite suggestions to the contrary.’Liverpool are said to be baffled with reports linking them with a mega-money move for Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.

I dunno about the best young coach in footy, because I don't know enough about other young coaches, but he got us playing brilliant football for most of last season and I don't think that was down to Suarez, especially as we played rubbish for most of Kenny Dalglish's last year in charge. We've had several players show massive improvements under Rodgers - Suarez himself included - but there will always be what ifs until a manager has been established for a number of years.

The evolution of the side will be interesting to see - I am presuming that we won't be set up in quite the same first half blitzing way we were last year.

So Bayern rule out Shaqiri sale. Wonder what he thinks of getting splinters in his arse and collecting his cheque monthly.

I'm very interested to see the starting XI against So'ton.

Just to clarify, use of the word "baffled" was mine & mine alone. It was a description, not a direct quote. God help us.

not really no. he's seemingly unable to sort the defence out and we wont have a world class forward saving their arse every week now.

He's trying to buy Lovren who ticks the boxes for what we need. He's not infallible but he's had two Summers to sort out the team, he's made mistakes (don't they all?) but he's took us from 7th to 2nd. Stop fucking moaning for the sake of fucking moaning, there's ages left yet and we've probably been the most active club in England.

Fucking woman.

i'm only saying the jury's out

Call me negative, but Rodgers has always had an ace up in his sleeve in Suarez. Whilst he's proven he's a very good manager, this season I feel will make or break him as one of the best.

FFS. He trying to buy Lovren and Moreno and there are still 6 weeks to go to the end of the fucking transfer window. Jesus Christ.

Oh - he definitely maximized Suarez's talent (which will be evident at Barca, where the team is geared to make Messi ticked) and many other players. But having a player of Suarez's level naturally allows a team to do things it cannot without him (our streak without him at the season's beginning was very tightly fought low scoring affairs).

It's a big season for the club yet again ... We have to finish top 4 ... and I hope Rodgers proves we do really have something special with him.

A season doesn't make a manager though. We're in the most competitive league in the World with 6 or so teams that can be there or thereabouts. I hope we don't get Spurs-esque and end up trigger happy because it takes a while to adjust to life without Suarez.

If we capitulate then we'll assess how and why, I'm sure, but you know, if we go from 2nd to 4th or whatever, it's hardly disastrous, the main thing is we try to maintain our level and CL football.

Fucking laughable that people are now questioning Rodgers' coaching ability. What he achieved last year was absolutely extraordinary. Suarez is brilliant, but the squad as a whole is fucking MILES behind City's and Chelsea's and a good way behind Arsenal's.

Anyone would think Suarez was fucking Pele or something. City had Silva, Toure, and Aguero, all much better than the next best attacker in our squad, and we pushed them all the way.

There might be a slight regression as the team is reshaped and while the young players mature, but as long as we get the right players in Rodgers will mould them into something brilliant.

I agree - we're trying to re-establish ourselves as a permanent fixture in the top four, which will take a number of years and will undoubtedly be a very big task. I'm optimistic though.

Establish ourselves as a permanent fixture ? No, won't happen. With City, Chelsea, Arsenal and United it's going to be at least a 5-way battle every season.
