Transfer Rumours

I'm a bit depressed.

I'm sure we're not going to sign all these players but the fact that the rumours appear to be coming thick and fast means we've got money to burn and we want to wrap up our business pretty quickly. Basically, it looks like a deal to sell Suarez is more or less agreed.

I know he's a bitey cunt and he's fucked up again but he's so fucking good I still don't want to see him go.

Perhaps I should be getting more excited about some of our potential signings but truth be told nobody, Sanchez aside (and I don't think that's going to happen and even if he does he's no Suarez) is really making the pulse race.

I agree. He's one of the best players I've ever seen.

But if he does anything mad again he is fucked, and we know he'll do something mad because he's a lunatic. I think we have to let him go, sadly

Understandable but don't give up just yet, wait and see before mourning Suarez, nothing is done yet, having a fair wedge to spend this summer was always on the cards regardless of the Suarez situation.

It's a case of sell him before he's mental, or have him be mental and then possibly miss an entire season. The FA have now got free reign to hand out a BIGGER ban if he does something cunty

5-8 months really wouldn't surprise me

Someone pls pls pls tell me the rumours about Vidal to Utd are rubbish? The guy seems a Keane/Davids clone and the last type of player you want to add backbone to Manure. Let's hope PSG go mental and save us after already forking out on Luiz....

The 13 games he's guaranteed to miss is enough for me. That's a fucking shocker in itself.

Before this happened I was torn about keeping him, because I thought in business terms now was the time to sell, but one more season out of him would be ideal. But if we're not going to have him for a quarter of the fucking season anyway then what's the fucking point?

Sell now and us the money to shape the squad for the next decade. We can win titles on the back of this deal, if done right.

I'd say we are interested alright whether we get him is a different matter. Definitely see us getting another CM but thought that weI be Strootman.

Could see them being interested in a swap deal with Nani as they have been chasing him for years.

I can't imagine that Vidal (one of the top three central midfielders in the world for me) would even entertain the idea of a switch to Champions League-less Utd at the age of 28.

That is definitely going to be a big factor for some players.

And there is absolutely no guarantee we will get back in next year. But bar City and Chelsea I think the top 4 will be quite open. Who gets it is anyones guess, and every player is taking a risk that things don't go right at the club in the future.

Bookies have us as 3rd favourites after city and Chelsea for top 4 and I wouldn't like to bet much on us doing it especially at those odds.

You've got better odds than both us and Arsenal? That seems a bit off.

I'm surprised United have better odds than us on the basis that we finished second last season. But given how much out form faded down the stretch, it's understandable.

Arsenal seem the ones likely to drop out to be honest. They're being linked with lots of strikers, but nothing seems to actually be happening. I could see this being one of those windows that really drags for them until they get a striker who doesn't help them at all, and another #10.

The warning signs for them were there last season when Everton gave them a real scare, and it doesn't look like Arsenal are taking those indications seriously.

City and Chelsea nailed on and then not much in it between ourselves, Arsenal and yourselves.

This. The threat of it happening is very real, and as much as I hate to see us lose a world class player, I hate even more the notion of us having a world class lame duck.

As for these rumours - they're coming too thick and fast, I just think it's journos, twits and self-styled ITKs conjuring stories based on their expectations that we'll sell Suarez for this or that amount.

Yeah they are only showing one company offering 21/20 on us, virtually all the others offer the same odds on us/United & Arsenal .. 4/6 or 4/7.

How did we fade down the stretch ? 11-1-1 is fading ?

re. Arsenal - nearly 2 months to go in the window, I won't be counting them out just yet.

The results really weren't convincing for a long time though. It's a real characteristic of good clubs to win even when they don't perform up to scratch, but we got bailed out several times that the record doesn't show.

Not counting Arsenal out, but the signs from them aren't great so far.

The risk of a massive ban for a repeat offence is huge, & the bad publicity will be making our sponsors put pressure on the club too.

However, someone on Twitter said this 'There isn't one player we can bring in who can excite me half as much as suarez can'.

That's damn true. Suarez is quite literally a mercurial talent, he's exceptionally good, & for all our luck in identifying new strikers over the years, I doubt we'll see that level of talent at anfield for a very long time.

I'll be sad to see him go simply cos the things he does with a football on a consistent basis are the type of thing that usually only Real or Barca fans get to see week in week out.

It's like falling in love with a gorgeous, perfect girl who's amazing in bed, but realising she's always gonna be seeing someone else on the side occasionally.

The practical arguments make a compelling case for getting rid, so the head says yeah, get shut now, for genuine justified fear of losing out long term.

I'd be lying if I said my heart wasn't breaking though.

This is a way bigger loss than Torres, cos suarez never gives up on the pitch & is truly remarkable, even when he's playing poorly he can win us a game.

Latest from the ECHO.

Liverpool FC will launch a £25million swoop for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic after wrapping up a deal for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana.

England international Lallana arrived at Melwood to undergo a medical and sort out personal terms on Friday after the clubs agreed a fee of £23million plus add-ons.

The 26-year-old is set to pen a four-year contract and the formalities should be completed over the weekend with an official announcement due on Monday.

Lallana will become Liverpool’s third summer signing following the £4million deal for fellow Saints star Rickie Lambert and the £10million purchase of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can.

Brendan Rodgers is eyeing more attacking reinforcements with the manager now set to turn his attentions to highly-rated Serbian youngster Markovic.

The 20-year-old was heavily scouted by Liverpool last season and had been lined up initially as a possible alternative to Lallana if an agreement couldn’t be reached with Southampton.

However, despite landing Lallana, the Reds are set to press on and open talks with Benfica.

Liverpool haven’t been put off by the £25million price tag and are confident of making another statement of intent ahead of the new campaign.

Markovic, who is understood to be keen on making the switch to Anfield, joined Benfica from Partizan Belgrade last summer and helped them clinch the Portuguese title.

The pursuit of Markovic means that the Reds are unlikely to follow up their interest in Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri, who caught the eye with a hat-trick for Switzerland against Honduras at the World Cup earlier this week.

Liverpool also look set to beat off competition from Tottenham for Lille’s teenage Belgium international striker Divock Origi.

However, if the Reds do secure the 19-year-old’s services they will loan him back to Lille for the 2014/15 season.

Southampton’s Dejan Lovren and Sevilla’s Albert Moreno remain the club’s top defensive targets but neither of those deals are close to completion.

Talks over Moreno have stalled with the La Liga outfit refusing to budge on their £20million valuation.

Lallana had been earmarked by Rodgers as one of his key summer signings and Liverpool finally secured a breakthrough in their negotiations with Southampton after having two bids rejected prior to the World Cup finals.

On his return from England’s dismal campaign in Brazil, the 26-year-old informed new Saints boss Ronald Koeman that his heart was set on moving to Anfield and the South Coast outfit reluctantly granted their skipper his wish.

Southampton will have to hand over 25% of the fee to Championship club Bournemouth, who had a sell-on clause.

It means Lallana, who scored 10 goals in 42 appearances last season, will be quickly reunited with former Saints team-mate Lambert.
St Albans-born Lallana started out at Bournemouth's Centre of Excellent before being snapped up by Southampton at the age of 12. He made his first-team debut in August 2006 and had a spell on loan at Bournemouth in 2007/08 before establishing himself as a Saints regular the following campaign.

Lallana helped Southampton claim back to back promotions as he was named in the League One team of the year in 2010/11 and the Championship team of the year in 2011/12. He scored 13 goals as they booked their passage to the Premier League.

His outstanding form in the top flight last term saw him voted Southampton's Player of the Year, he was also shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award and named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Lallana earned a first England cap against Chile last November and went on to feature in all three of the nation’s group matches at the World Cup.

Liverpool remain tight-lipped over the future of Luis Suarez as they await the outcome of his appeal following his record four-month ban from FIFA.

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has made it clear that the Catalan outfit haven’t been put off by the Uruguayan’s bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini and they still intend to pursue his signature this summer.

However, the Reds are in no rush to sell and have no intention of letting Suarez go for a knockdown price.

Liverpool have already registered their interest with Barcelona in exciting Chile international Alexis Sanchez, although they know they have serious competition from Juventus among others.
