Yes that's more or less what I mean. He'd have to be willing to have plenty of bench time. Unless we took the plunge and actually sold one of Mane/Salah.

With our current Front 3 ; 28, 29 and 29 years old and with a horrendous Summer (Olympics) and January (African Cup of Nations) to come he'd see tons of playing time whilst giving our current front three both a deserved rest and competition. By the following season he'd have usurped one of them. I'd love to see him here (ditto Werner).

I forgot about the Olympics and afcon.

I'm not sure if you have the impression that I don't want us to sign a new forward. I actually think it's the top priority this summer because of our 3's age and total lack of proper backup.

But it's just a situation that has to be managed a bit carefully.

I think we'd be foolish to keep all three forwards next year personally. We do not want to let these three get too old, we need churn.

But that's a personal opinion and I can see the argument that all 3 are in their prime so why sell one?

For me Bobby is unsellable, so it'd be between Salah and Mane for me.

It's right to start thinking about succession and it's also, for me, the right time to inject some new blood into the first team and squad but not at the expense of one of our stars.

We have a small squad as it is... 22 players according to Wiki not including the kids. And that 22 players includes Lallana, Clyne and Lonergan who will all likely leave.

Selling one of the front three will likely trigger a mini rebuild. Why do that to ourselves now? Especially when we should be able to manage it more carefully over the next year or two.

I think what we have with Salah and Mane's injury record is quite rare. I know we'll miss them for a predictable amount of time due to international call-ups, but compare with Sane, or closer to home, Owen, Torres, Ox etc. We do need fresh blood, but not simply because of these tournaments. Mane and Salah will still probs play more games than most forwards would for us with or without the Afcon and Olympics.

the clubs mouthpiece speaks. With mane disappearing for afcon and salah for that one plus the Olympics , id be surprised if we didnt sign anyone unless we will reply on origi and shaq

It's strange cos she says we wouldn't sign a top attacker because we can't justify it given the current front 3, but also that we're looking to create a seamless succession by bringing in replacements now and letting them bed in. That'd be my main reason to sign a top young attacker like Sancho. He's the perfect age and style to replace Salah or Mane, it'd be a real shame to miss out for the sake of a couple of years.

Succession planning has already materialised both internally – Harvey Elliot – and externally with Liverpool looking at players with high ceilings that are eager to further develop.
They would be filed in the same category as the likes of Mane and Firmino – good upon arrival, but can grow into certified superstars under Klopp’s tutelage. There is an understanding that the figures for those kind of talents are now closer to £50m rather than £30m, so Liverpool would not be making insignificant investment.

I read this as a strong hint that we're in for Martinelli – someone Klopp is known to admire, but not listed together with Son and Rashford as "unattainable" in the beginning of the article.

I can understand the stance on Havertz – he might be "a player that Klopp and Edwards may as well have stylistically stitched together given his ticking of their requirements," but he's not a superstar yet, while the money it would take to buy him (+ the salary to match) would put him in this category. I wrote about this before – the way this incredible squad came together was mostly by buying somewhat under-the-radar players rather than the hottest property available. Even Van Dijk was not universally appreciated and there were doubts about Alisson at the time. We have no reason to deviate from the strategy that has been proven incredibly successful so far.

Van Dijk and Alisson were both world record signings for their positions. They were undoubtedly the biggest names we could reasonably have targeted. If we'd stuck rigidly to the strategy of only signing 'value' then we'd never have got them and almost certainly wouldn't be in this amazing position now.

I think we should just look to buy the best players we can with the resources available.

Fuck me she's thrown plenty of shit up the wall in that article, surely something will stick somewhere. Maybe she's behind The Firm

Yeah that article was a bit meh. I mean she's pretty much telling us what we already know with more creative wordings.

Sancho, Werner and Havertz? Jan's right... we can't afford all three.

Maybe two of the three, Given that we have sign Minamino for such a small amount £7 m +, Shirt sale alone In japan will far excede that every year. Sponsorship deals will bring in much, much more for winning not only the CL and Super Cup, but add to that that we have become the WCC, and should we go unbeaten all season, we would have won the PL with the highest points tally ever; sponsor throwing so much money at us it will be come hard to see the Red shirts under the sonsorship logo's

The one name omitted that refuses to go away.. and she didn't address it.. Werner.

If we can get him for c.€50m we'd be stupid not to.

As for her mention of the valuation of Havertz for £40m by the club. That's a nice little sound bite to Leverkusen to say we want to negotiate.

That's how I read into it anyway.

I don't understand that last post.
Let me explain,... i saw nothing special when he played for England, and at the prices quoted, I expect to see gold dripping from his sweat as a minimum, 120M, sorry but that league he is playing in is not that great currently.

Leipzig's Werner hints at summer exit amid Premier League interest

"We are going into many important games. That's what I want to focus on now. I can still contemplate my future later."

But when asked about a career plan, Werner said that his future depends on the offers he receives: "What do you say if a club comes knocking in the next two weeks, a club which is one of the favourites to win the Champions League and makes an incredible offer? Most likely every player would think about it.

"I can generally imagine playing abroad one day, although I don't have any specific club where I want to be.

"I am open for everything. I was over in America for a holiday recently and English football was on all of the time. That's an exclamation mark for the Premier League. But there are also big, famous clubs and it would certainly be fun playing there."
