Transfer rumours

Is this sort of thing common?

I don’t get why we would sell the debt unless we a) thought we’d struggle to get the cash off Barca or b) needed the money desperately.

Either scenario is weird.
In general it's really quite common. Banks and companies with debt often sell off this debt, their financial assets, to specialist companies or to other banks at a discount so they can reinvest it.

Who the fuck will want to sell to Barca if clubs are having to use these kinds of means to collect debts from them? Are Barca in trouble?

This fits in with the narrative that we need to sell before we can buy. We sold the debt on and reinvested the cash straight away

The fact that banks/capital asset companies are happy to do this indicates that Barcelona have a high credit standing - which is no surprise given where their backing comes from.

West brom are having trouble getting 100 grand off Barcelona for some kid that’s already in the process of being sold on to Villa.

It seems to be heavily discussed on their forum. Their board are telling everyone that they are in good shape

“We will present a budget for the 2019/20 season with around €1.06bn in income."

“I want to give a message of calm. We have healthy finances and we are a robust club. The fact that financial entities join with us to offer us resources is a clear demonstration that we are solid."

“The level of debt is normal and complies with the ratios set by the statutes. We are under the EBITDA, and we have an enormous EBITDA that generate a lot of income."

"Last year we generated nearly €180m Ebitda, with accumulated profits of €153m and a net debt of around €160m. If we add Espai Barça to this, then this debt is €217m."

However, some other evidence shows otherwise (http://www.barcaforum.com/showthread.php/13329-FC-Barcelona-Finances/page49)

We just borrowed another 90m from Swiss and French creditors. On top of the 140m from the US at the beginning of the year plus another 30m to finance Griezmann's transfer, we have borrowed 260m in the last 12 months.

#FCBarcelona gross financial debt increased by €14m to €68m, largely a loan to repurchase the Can Rigalt land. Combined with €53m cash reduction to €40m, club moved from €39m net funds to €28m net debt. Also owe €142m in transfer fees, mainly to Liverpool for Coutinho.

Using the broadest possible definition of debt, #FCBarcelona total liabilities shot up by €243m from €645m to €888m in 2018. As well as bank loans and transfer fees, big increases in amounts owed to personnel €51m and public administrations €42m, as well as accruals €53m.

We're due to lose him on a free in 6 months anyway, so is he worth keeping around given the game time he'll get now that our players are coming back from injury.
We get Fabs back next week, Ox is also around, Minamo can do a job in the middle. We could potentially sell him.

My point exactly, better to sell & get him off the wage bill and it's a little extra kitty for the summer.

Either way I'm not all that bothered.

2 weeks ago we were being told by decent sources Klopp would ideally like him to extend his contract, I’d be amazed if the club looked at 7 million on the table and decided to sell. There’s no way he’s going unless the player himself wants out.

Would he get a PL winners medal if we did end up selling?

If not for sentimental reasons alone, keep him.

Fabinho may be on the way back but he won't be oven-ready yet, and neither the Ox nor Minamino - though both do plenty of running - would be a natural replacement as cover in the no.6 role. £7 mill.isn't to be sniffed at for a player in the latter stages of his LFC career, but I support the club's apparent stance on this.

Neither is Lallana

Until recently I'd have agreed, but it's where Klopp's been playing him lately. He's not in Fabinho's class there, but as a stopgap he's done well enough to tide us over.

But has he played there that often? I know he did against Villa and was shit, and since Fabinho's injury, Henderson has dropped into that role anyway.

Lallana's most recent great game was against Everton - Chirivella played as the number 6 - and the game he started against Wolves was a wider attacking position.

He's versatile, certainly, but he'd be far from even my second choice as a number 6, and his value to us isn't in that position.

A back that could help us win the title and potentially retain the Champs League vs £7m in the bank..... Hmmmm... I think I'd go for the former. Besides the £7m isn't for him anyways, so he gain nothing from it, maybe a slightly higher wage. Might as well let him leave on a free and go back to Soton in the summer.

He's hardly going to be make or break whether we win the league now is he.

He's started like 5 games in the league during our 38 game unbeaten run.

Rather give his cameo minutes to Minamino or even Jones
