Transfer rumours

We were after Max Kruse it seems...

Kruse has now confirmed that the Reds did indeed make him an offer before joining Fenerbahce.
“I had lots of offers, Liverpool were one of these sides,” Kruse said in an interview with beIN Turkey.
“I picked Fenerbahce as I had this feeling that Fenerbahce are the next step for me.
“Fenerbahce had an attractive project for me.”
Loosely translated, Fenerbache offered ne a truckload more money than Liverpool therefore I decided it was the better project to join.

erm .. Hi All - it is the 27th July 2019 - we still have not signed anyone of any major value. Does anyone know when was the last season that we made no major signing - assume for inflation across using £4M as a base figure. I guess that is the new 12M-15M these days.

Yeah, probably more money and a key role in the team rather than being Firmino’s backup. It’s fine; we only need players willing to sacrifice everything to win with this team.

More interesting is the question who’s next on our list for this position? De Beek seems to fit (and him being undecided with the likes of Real after him would explain the delay), but do we have a plan C?

First this is just funny. I picked Fenerbahce as I had a feeling....? What dies that even mean?

Second and more importantly this does seem to suggest that behind the scenes we are actually trying to sign someone, despite lots of noises from Klopp saying we're not. Can we relax a bit knowing that a random amazing transfer coup is about to be unveiled?

Our stock has never been higher, (just behind Fenerbahce evidently) it would be crazy not to take this opportunity to bolster the forward and r/l back squad options.

Yeah. We won't though.

I've been here for every frenzied, desperate transfer window from Simao and Joaquín to Pepe and M'Bappe

I'm rarely wrong when it comes to mad speculation. We're signing nobody of any high import or interest or indeed money

agree with this

Gareth Bale is close to sealing a stunning move from Real Madrid to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning on a contract worth over £1 million-a-week.
The Wales international is in the final stages of negotiations and Jiangsu are now confident of completing a deal for the 30-year-old.
Should it go through, then Bale will most likely more than double his £600,000-a-week Real wages and will comfortably be the biggest star to ever move to the Chinese Super League.

Absolutely nuts.

Quote of the week

Kieran Trippier has said "behind the scenes" issues caused him to leave Tottenham for Atletico Madrid.

Trippier joined the Rojiblancos in deal which could be worth up up to €25 million.

"I think it was time for me to change and move on," Trippier said. "I don't necessarily mean that I needed to move on, but things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham, which I don't really want to go into, but I needed to move on from that."

That's basically Bale announcing his retirement.
Tired of competing, just the complete opposite of a player like Milner for instance.

By the sounds of things it’s been like that for a while. He’s primarily interested in the money.

Tired of competing ? I don't think so. Imagine if a company came and offered you twice your current wage (assuming it was already massive) for half the work.

He's also going to Nanjing, just a hour or so from Shanghai. Fun.

He's from Britain the one thing he should strive for is to win the premiership.
Nah, other players have turned down those amounts to stay and compete in Europe.

He will always get picked by wales regardless of where he plays. If an top English player went to China, it would be the of thier international career

Sorry but that's bollocks - especially as it applies to a 30 yr old Bale. Realistically there are likely only 2 teams in it again this year and possibly only CFC or MUFC could join us in the foreseeable future (Spurs will likely lose their top players and manager soon, if not this season). If you are not into gambling on the next few seasons then that just leaves us and City .. and neither club would want him with his demands. Not sure why anyone would pick any other team in the PL over £1m a week. Fuck me £100m for a 2 year stint in China, 23 years here - where did I do wrong !

Lionel Messi wages

According to fresh reports from L’Equipe, Messi earns a staggering £7.3million per month before tax.
That works out as approximately £1.7m per week for the Barcelona superstar.
The same report claims Cristiano Ronaldo is the second highest-paid star in the world with £4.1m per month.
The figures appear to include bonuses and extras on top of Messi’s basic rate of pay.

Ronaldo and Messi's will be remembered long after they've gone from the game.
The Chinese club are f'in stupid to pay £52m a year (which is probably more than the turnover of the club) for a player who is in the twilight of his career, with no motivation to show anything on the pitch. The only thing he will be eager to see is £4m in his account before tax.

Bale is about 5 years younger than Ronaldo, hes far too young to be considered a spent force, unless hes been physically broken to the point he will never regain his peak fitness.

When was the last time he was at peak fitness?

Bale reminds me of that LB we had, the name escapes who did nothing to show his worth when he came back from injury
