So Fekir has gone for 17mill, 12months after we were balls deep all over him for 40 or 50mill? And we didn't go for him this summer because he overnight turned terrible and klopp misjudged it last summer? Can't be his fitness as he played a full season. Betis might have scored themselves a player there

We have terrific pulling power. We will have some stale players this year..

Agree - I expect another challenge for the league title but can't see us winning it.
Relying heavily on injury prone players to remain fit - Clyne (already out for 9 months), Lallana, Keita, Ox etc.
We should have shipped out Clyne, Lallana & Mignolet by now - can't see why we are keeping them.

When the man who has masterminded a team to amass 97 points and win the CL keeps saying we don't need more players, then do you trust him when he says that and relax or doubt him and worry?
a) He's not infallible
b) He's already admitted that even if we DID want more players, we haven't got the money to spend like we did last summer
c) We DO need more players, because - Exhibit 1 - we may well be starting the season with Divock Origi playing up front.
We were lucky/unlucky that we didn't really have much in the way of domestic cups to deal with last year. If we go deep into any of them this year, plus the extra games we now have to play due to the CL win, we could be right in the shit with fitness. Nevermind that we don't have any adequate cover at all for the front 3 or full back positions.

It's hardly "bunch of fannies", Klopp has explicitly stated we can't spend much money this summer, and we won't.
So even if he wanted M'Bappe, or Coutinho or whoever, he can't buy them.
I'm not sure why he's going down the old 'we can't spend much' routine.

So over the last 5yrs we're at about a net -20mill a year spend, that's the sort of money that Bournemouth or someone would spend each year. And last we won the CL and the TV money has gone up again. There should surely be a minimum of 100mill there if he wants it.
So far this summer the Villa have spent over 100mill, Leicester about 80mill, City about 70mill, Utd about 70mill, Newcastle 40mill, Soton 50mill, Skinflint Spurs 65mill, West Ham 70mill, Wolves 45mill - So there is no way he's convincing me that we're skint.
I'd be all for us not spending this Summer, if our bench wasn't piss poor. Even if we were broke, which we're not, the owners should take a punt at it due to the lack of depth and injuries/sales/more games.
Yeah, it's odd and frustrating too.
Still, I wasn't expecting anything (despite it being odd) so I'm not going to be disappointed, or indeed be waiting for "smokescreens" or deals that are being done in secret "because that's how we do things now".
We are not buying anyone of any interest or import.
I'm behind Jurgen in believing in the potential of players like Brewster, Origi, Ox, Gomez and Keita to contribute more this season.
However, what's undeniable is we need strength in depth at FB and in the 3 positions upfront. He said we were not going to have a big summer. I don't mind that.
Just so long as we sign TWO quality players in the those positions. A N.Pepe type + a FB and I'm sure the fans will be content.
