Transfer Rumours 21/22

Looks like we are too decent/nice to sign players in view of making profits (e.g. Chelsea signing Sarr on free transfer and loaning him out to Porto last season).

Yeah, my thoughts from the get go with Kabak was that he'd be a really good candidate for a buy and farm out type deal that Chelsea do all the time. Either we end up selling him in a year or two or we bring him back.

I understand that people have explained all our finances and what not but it still baffles me that we're so broke.

The proposals for Messi's new contract look interesting.
5-year deal for a 34 year old? What's the bets he plays another 3 years but gets paid 5 years of wages (so they're not really cutting his pay by that much, but are just looking to spread it over 5 years). They might run into some interesting accounting problems if he doesn't see out the contract.
Also wonder whether he might be keeping more of the value of his image rights himself to compensate for the lower wages.
He clearly could have named his price from PSG and I doubt he's staying out of loyalty - last big contract, why would you settle for a lot less than you could have got elsewhere?
It's also clear that whoever was deciding the wages at Barca for the last 3-4 years must have been on crack.

He'll play 3-4 years and then MLS.

I don't get the point in signing Kabak if were keeping Nat. It was always going to be one or the other and it looks as if we are settling on Nat. Buying Kabak would just be stockpiling Chelsea style especially considering we aren't getting rid of Matip.

And that's the point. Most people who want Kabak think Matip should be moved on.

Sure but surely if we replace Matip it should be for the right player...someone else here made a post saying that Kabak wasn't that exceptional (even though he seemed like a lovely guy). He lacked a bit of pace and game intelligence and just as important at his age Kabak needs to be starting games not be on the bench waiting for his chance to play.

So whilst I agree we should be looking to replace Matip, maybe Kabak just didn't for the right profile at this point in time himself AND the club. Clearly, Phillips is the guy Klopp has bet on over Kabak as Phillips doesn't seem as bothered about being 5th choice.

Pretty positive we could have found 8.5m somewhere for a player who's already for us, is young, and ultimately not shit

Keep fucking Ben Davies though

it's a fucking joke, £8.5m... Hope they remmeber that when Matip and Gomez post their sick notes again. Ben Fucking Davis 😵

Stoke just paid 12 million pounds for Nathan Collins. We could have easily sold Kabak for 20 million-plus next season.

I know Barca are desperate, but is this really legal? Messi will most likely not play until 40, but they are giving him a 5-year contract in a transparent attempt to get around the salary cap; surely if the league look the other way this time this loophole will be abused again in the future.

This deal makes no sense. Griezmann is on £600k a week with 3 years left on his contract. He's 30 years old, there is no way on earth AM will offer him comparable terms. Nobody at AM earning half of Griezmanns salary.

Mundo Deportivo say the the Reds have offered 40 million euros (£34m) but Atleti are holding out for 50 million euros (£43m).

Diego Simeone’s men announced the signing of midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese this week and so Saul could now fall down the pecking order at the Wanda Metripolitano and further still, out of the exit door.

Barca and AM have agreed to swap Saul Niguez for Griezmann.
That is a net €15m off the books.
In other news Real Madrid has had their salary cap cut down by a further €150m.

Source? It makes no sense.

Antoine Griezmann – Saul Niguez swap is advanced (RMC)
As reported by Cadena COPE on Wednesday, RMC Sport affirm that negotiations are at an advanced stage between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona over a possible Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann swap deal.
Talks have been on since last week over a deal and the French international is now close to a return to Atleti – the deal will not be executed as a straight swap, but rather two separate transfers, which will see Diego Simeone’s side pay slightly more than the Catalan giants.

LaLiga slash Real Madrid wage cap by £150m

LaLiga will slash Real Madrid’s wage cap by almost £150million for the 2021/2022 season, throwing the future of several players into doubt.

Last season, the club’s maximum operating budget was €473million (£403m), but that figure has dropped to €300m (£255m) for the upcoming campaign.
The salary cap is imposed by the league and is based on the club’s projected income.
This will allow them to retain a model of economic sustainability, so that their spending is within their revenue streams.
In the 2019/2020 season before COVID-19 kicked in, Madrid’s salary budget stood at €641million. This means the cap has more than halved in that two-year timeframe.
That drop led to Los Blancos not signing any players last summer, with a number of young players sold. Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Reguilon and Oscar Rodriguez were among the academy graduates to be permanently sold, as James Rodriguez joined Everton.
The loan exits of Gareth Bale, Brahim Diaz, Luka Jovic and Martin Odegaard also temporarily eased the wage bill, but that quartet of players has now returned to the club.

There was even talk about other clubs paying Messi's wages. Its seems La Liga need Messi otherwise it could go down the route of Italy

James Pearce just doused all our dreams by saying every single player linked so far are not on our shortlist except for Neuhaus. But Neuhaus is too expensive now....
