Transfer Rumours 21/22

Not exactly our way of doing things though. Klopp will splash cash for ready made world class players like Virgil and Ali but its unusual.
I'd slightly disagree, Virgil wasn't the finished product at Southampton. He was almost there.

Our usual model is to buy players not at the top teams and give them that final polish.

Nunez is in that category right now. Fwiw. I don't think he'll necessarily go for €100m. Its up to the buying club to find a structure.

Look… iIf we want Dembele we’ll offer him a manageable basic wage with a highly incentivised bonus structure that gets him to the wage point he wants but requires him to play and be good.

If he’s not interested… he can fuck off to Newcastle - no-one else will pay him.

Newcastle wont pay him either. His initial wage demands to Barca were about 700k per week.
He's got all the talent in the World but seems a bit to much Balotelliesque to me.

There don't seem to be strong enough links to anyone bar Tchouameni. Nunez and Dembele rumours don't seem to be generated in any way from any reputable sources.

EDIT: There weren't any when we signed Fabinho so it doesn't mean nothing is going on.

I strongly suspect not. The Chavs have some rebuilding to do and may well want to include him in that. Even if not, they'd never sell him to us in a month of Sundays.

No-one in their right mind is paying him anywhere near that, if that’s what he’s asking.

He needs to drop one of those zero’s off the end.

I've just dropped a detailed post on my estimate of our spending budget in the "Clearout" thread. I reckon, including Mane out and Carvalho in, that we'll have about £90m to spend (gross transfer fees), plus anything else we save in wages / raise in fees on further transfers out.

He's a complete cunt. He should be on his knees begging for a contract after the last few years of his career

Maybe he is.

Maybe he knows that only Klopp hugs can make him great again.

If there is 90m to spend then I'd hope they would put all that to two positions.

CM and a 9/RW.

I'm not fully on board with move for a backup RB unless Gomez is going on loan. He's done a decent job when called upon and deserves the minutes.

We don’t need a RB - Gomez, Nico, Sepp, Bradley, Milner & that Scottish kid we’re signing will suffice.

You’re right - we need to use the resources elsewhere, unless somebody wants to buy one of those above for a ridiculous amount.

Div's replacement, @6ft 4 he would an give an ariel advantage from set pieces. I would assume hs price tag is less than £20m

Liverpool “closely monitoring” Salzburg’s ‘Mini Haaland’ – 8 goals, 7 assists in 28 games

With one eye on the next generation, Liverpool are said to be monitoring young Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, who has struck eight times this term.
From Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Hwang Hee-chan to Erling Haaland, Patson Daka and Karim Adeyemi, Salzburg have produced a conveyor belt of attacking talent over the years.
The Austrian club are built to regenerate season by season, boosted by big-money sales for their leading talent, and have proven hugely successful at doing so.
In the wake of Haaland’s exit to Borussia Dortmund, Daka stepped up; with Daka moving on to Leicester, Adeyemi was on hand to take up the reins as lead goalscorer.

Adeyemi is expected to depart Salzburg at the end of the current season, with Liverpool interested, and it is likely that his successor is already at the club.
Sesko, the 18-year-old Slovenian, has scored eight and assisted seven in 28 appearances for Salzburg this season, including three goals and three assists in 651 minutes in the Austrian Bundesliga.
If Adeyemi leaves, he is primed to step up – though, according to Goal, Liverpool are among the clubs who could look to get ahead of the curve when it comes to Salzburg’s No. 30.
In their NXGN list of the 50 best wonderkids in football, Goal claim that Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Tottenham are all “closely monitoring” Sesko.
Man City, Juventus and Dortmund are also credited with an interest in a player ranked ninth in the list – behind only Youssoufa Moukoko, Devyne Rensch, Rayan Cherki, Harvey Elliott, Jamal Musiala, Gavi, Florian Wirtz and Jude Bellingham.

Standing at 6’4″ but also blessed with incredible pace, Sesko has already been nicknamed ‘Mini Haaland’ and seen his team-mates compare him to the Norwegian phenomenon.
In a profile by Goal from back in June, the teenager is quoted as saying: “My team-mates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed.
“Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”
Sesko added: “Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy.”

Sesko joined Salzburg from NK Domzale in 2019 for a fee of around £2.1 million, turning down offers from major European clubs in favour of the development project at the Red Bull Arena.
After scoring 22 goals and laying on six assists over two seasons on loan with sister-club FC Liefering, Sesko has now made his first, impressive forays into life in the Salzburg first team.
Whether he will end up at Anfield in the future remains to be seen, but it certainly makes sense for Liverpool to already be scouting the next generation at a club like Salzburg, along with the current crop.

Pearce has a piece in the Athletic broadly outlining our summer plans

- Salah's concern is terms, not length of deal. We have apparently offered him a deal which is a 15% improvement on his current deal. His demands on the other hand are to make him the 6th best paid player on the planet.

- would be ok signing even a 2 year extension if terms are favourable. Else, he is willing to run down his contract and look for a deal somewhere else in the PL itself

- Mane definitely leaving. Our asking price will be 50 million euros (42 million GBP)

- no clue on replacement. Jonathan David and Jarrod Bowen have been long-term targets, but can't say if we'll go for them. We had brief discussions with Mbappe before his extension at PSG.

- we want a midfielder, but have accepted that Tchouameni will go to Real. Bellingham is admired, but Dortmund would want 80 million to let him go this summer.

- we would like to extend Keita, and will probably sell Ox.

- Milner probably gets a 1 year extension unless he wishes to go elsewhere.

- Neco Williams and Nat Phillips both to be sold. Asking price is 15 million

- Minamino has interest from Inter and Leeds. Asking price is 17 million

- Calvin Ramsay likely to be done soon for 4 million

Hopefully this is just a negotiating tactic.

We better have a plan. I don't fancy having to replace Mane, Salah and Firmino next season. Especially with Jota looking like half the player at the moment.

Pretty obvious I suppose. Keita really shouldn't be a starter, so if Bellingham isn't possible then we need to find someone else.

Deja vu

Minamino has interest from Inter and Leeds. Asking price is 17 million
lol. I'd rip their arm off.

Calvin Ramsay likely to be done soon for 4 million
huzzah

TBH it surprises me that we're looking to extend Keita's contract. Fabs has a point IMO in suggesting him as a makeweight for a Bellingham deal. Could just work given how well Keita performed in the Bundesliga before.
