Transfer Rumours 21/22

How many “sugar daddy” funded clubs are actually out there in the world?
I’d have thought the blame largely rest on Bayern for perennially weakening its rivals.
I'd imagine Dortmund or Bayern would have been a relatively small outlay for one of the oil oligarchs / arab nations. Look at the clamour for Chelsea despite the huge price tag (yes, recent PL and CL winners, but considering BM/BD's standing in the game the point stands).

Nice article today (Sky or BBC I forget) on Bayern which goes on to say (looking at who they are purportedly buying this Summer) that they are no longer capable of competing for the top players such as Bellingham (against the PL / La Liga and PSG) and that could see the deterioration of the BL as a top league and BM at the top of both the BL and competing for the CL. Basically blaming the 50+1% as this restricts the inflow of sugar daddies.
That's nonsense - they have something like £300m in the bank - they chose not to compete with high transfer fees

What they have in the bank (if your figure is correct. Source?) doesn't reflect how much they can spend on players. The fact is Bayern have only ONCE in their history paid more than £41m for a player. Once. They are not going to start trying to compete with PL/Spanish clubs because it isn't sustainable for them.

A quick Google turned this up:

19/20 : The total turnover of the group amounted to €698.0 million in the 2019/2020 season, and an operating profit was also generated. This amounted to €17.0 million before tax (EBT) and €9.8 million after tax.

20/21 : €1.8 million profit

Nice discussion article but …
wouldn’t that be missing the point about a strong league, though? Rich sugar daddy owners do not necessarily lead to a strong league. And Bayern (or any of the German sides) has rarely ever paid over the odds. anyway.

made money during a pandemic. You and I agree, they don't it, because they chose not to, as they can get players on the cheap.

I think this is could be the few way Pochettino gets to manage in one of the "bigger" sides if he is to be sacked by PSG, i.e. back to Tottenham

Two reasons…
Lacazette is leaving on a free
Jesus would be an upgrade on Lacazette…(I’d be an upgrade on Lacazette)
Jesus isn't going to be cheap, and he is an upgrade on what they have already. So really pushing the boat for Haaland then?

Arsenal can manage without him. Edu, on the other hand seems to be fixated on giving flailing Brazilians another pay day.

Aubamayang’s wages are going to waste and City need to shift a high earner to pay Harland so …..

7 goals and 11 assists in all comps - going into the last year of his contract. He is only 25. If I were him, I'd see out my contract if Man City won't offer him an extension

That’s Saka and Nketiah territory. No need to pay a fee and obscene wages for same. At least, in the cold light of day.

Internet murmurs, the reported fee is £25-£35m and offering £6m per year. If he is the only striker they get, their fans will be disappointed

@King Binny do you have stats on Brennan Johnson please? The kid looks like a real talent. I know Fowler and Robbie Keane were lauding the kid. The owmer of Plymouth was begging JK to buy him.
The club will buy who they'll buy, but imho Mini being sold and Johnson taking his place s an option that should be explored

Had a look on youtube after reading this and he reminds me of Luis Diaz somehow, though he plays as a traditional non-inverted winger. He certainly looks the kind of player that Klopp likes.
