Transfer Rumours 21/22

I wonder if we'll see some compromise on wages over the next window.

There aren't that many clubs that will pay crazy wages. La Liga isn't the destination it was ten years ago, Serie A is second tier despite a recent resurgence, which just leaves PSG and a few English clubs. If you value your career and trophies, then there is limited choice.

Perhaps just wishful thinking.
I think what will likely happen is players’ running down their contracts and hence getting higher wages through signing on fees. Even these, I reckon will level off. Or is it more wishful thinking?

In that vein, Salah will probably run down his contract and get a huge signing on fee for one last big pay day in the sunnier climes of Spain or Italy.

He is the kind of striker they need, unfortunately.

Yup, they create a billion chances a game - now with a real striker, not Jesus or Sterling or Raheem, they'll score more ...
I mean, they're fucking unreal without him ... what does that make them now?
It just reinforces how great Pep is - to take a small Barcelona and Bayern team to such glory, and now to build Man City from the ground up? AMAZING.

I haven’t seen much of him play, but will he fuck up their system? It’s all tippy tappy bell end stuff.

It doesn’t matter because we are completing football this season so there’s no need to come back next season.

This. I'm sure Haaland is suited to the Prem overall but I'm less sure he's suited to Citeh's system. Either he or the system will have to change - time will tell how well that's going to work.

I haven't paid much attention to him the last year or two because I don't watch the bundesliga, but I've just watched a highlight reel and it's all a bit benteke. As has been mentioned, something will have to change. He's no aguero.

I don’t think so because a lot of the time they just need someone to finish off the chances the other tippy tally bellends create.

Maybe. They will have to change the style they've been playing virtually the whole time under Pep. They'll likely improve their conversion rate but drop off in the chance creation stats because they simply won't have as many creatives/midfielders doing that work. It would be interesting to see.

And of course can Haaland adapt to the PL (the PL is a lot different to the BL)? And not become the new Lukaku. Who is Haaland most like out of current PL strikers? A much improved Ings? He's not a Kane or Salah that's for sure. It would be interesting but not a given he'll shine over here. Not that I wouldn't want him in our team of course but M'Bappe would suit us better (and no we're not getting him either).

Unfortunately Haaland takes them to another level. I've got some hope he'll be frequently injured, but was also hoping he'd join Madrid.

He won't get many of those quick counter attacking goals he gets for Dortmund. He'll have to be more or a poacher, so there's some adjustment, but City will always create enough chances for ant decent striker to fill their boots.

500k a week. Jeezzees. The financial part of this deal is insane.
His dad gets about 30-40 mill £, same with Raiola. 63 mill to Dortmund.

Haaland is a fantastic player. The last year has been plagued by injuries and he seems like he has started to believe his own hype. Not a good sign.

But he’s brilliant and the big question is how will Pep accomodate him in the team. Hopefully it wont work at all.

Real getting Mbappe then.

I wonder if Haaland may always have had a tendency to believe his own publicity. That admitted speculation is based on his decision as a 19-year-old to run at Virgil in the first few minutes of our CL tie in Salzburg on the way to no.6, presumably fuelled by the fact that he had scored in the Anfield leg. He was promptly overtaken and dumped on his @rse with one of those Virgil death stares for being so cheeky (and basically disappeared for the rest of the game).

That example doesn't work for me.
I'd rather a player go at another player - regardless of his reputation - than do what Sterling did last weekend and "oh it's your virgil? Sorry! I'll just turn around and let someone else try - do you need some tea before I leave?"
You want players with that attitude - Suarez would go at Virgil, as would Salah, Mane or any of our players - that's what greats do, no fear, and respect comes before and after the final whistle (in today's era at least).

That was my thought, too but, like you, I haven’t seen enough of him to say. Is he a free roamer or or is he a Lukaku-ype who hangs about the box?

I knew there was catch in the £63 million fee being reported. So, that's pretty much north of £120 million before factoring in his insane wages, then. This will be interesting.
