I wonder what happens if we didn't pay the installments. Would the bailiffs show up and take Jota away?
Sorry to go all serious on you, but non-payment of transfer fees would usually result in exclusion from competitions (by UEFA or the Premier League). It's why it rarely happens unless a team is going to go bust anyway. It's also a bone of contention with HMRC because when clubs do go bust, "football creditors" (i.e. debts to other clubs and players) take priority over tax debts.
 
Did we? I’ve always thought it was Barcelona who financed the purchase with a loan.

Both selling clubs (us and wolves) got a lump sum payment from a financial institution in lieu of instalment payments. The slight difference is wolves will probably have all transactions go via their bank account.
